Floyd Mayweather Jr., considered one of the best boxers in the history of the sport, is returning to the ring next year. But not in the way you would expect.

Mayweather announced on social media on Sunday that he’s making a comeback to boxing in order to fight YouTube star Logan Paul in an exhibition bout. The duel will take place on February 20th, 2021, and will be available as pay-per-view. The location is yet to be disclosed.

Floyd Mayweather officially retired from boxing in 2015 after winning 15 titles in four different weight classes and compiling a 49-0 record. He had a brief return in 2017 to fight UFC star Connor McGregor, winning via TKO and setting his career record at 50-0. This allowed Mayweather to surpass Rocky Marciano (49-0) and become the boxer with the longest undefeated streak.

Mayweather’s last fight came in late 2018 when he faced kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a three-round exhibition match. The fight ended with a first-round TKO by Mayweather.

Logan Paul gained prominence for posting content on the video-sharing platform Vine. Paul later ventured to YouTube, where he currently enjoys the following of 22.6 million subscribers.

Paul has only one official boxing fight in his career, having faced fellow YouTuber KSI back in 2019. The fight ended with KSI’s win via split decision.
