Confession time: I’m a panic mechanic. Yup, my stress levels can often be off the charts. Whether it’s a dental appointment coming up, or a massive deadline looming, I can get extremely anxious.

I recently read something about flower essences. They’re said to calm the nerves, so I thought I’d give it a bash. Flower essences are infusions made from flowering plants. Each one is designed to treat a different ailment.

For anxiety and nervousness, I chose Bach Rescue Remedy Natural Stress Relief ($21 for two). This flower essence contains star of Bethlehem, rock rose, clematis, impatiens, and cherry plum, a combination that is said to calm you.

I added a few drops of the essence to my water bottle and sipped it throughout the day. When things got really tense, I doubled the effect by sucking on Bach Rescue Remedy Pastilles($6).

I didn’t think anything was happening until, sometime later in the day, I suddenly realized I actually felt calm. Now I add essence to my water bottle every day and sip it when I start feeling stressed. After a while, I get less anxious. Maybe the effect is psychological, but it’s worth a try, don’t you think?
