Everything We Know About Shondaland’s “Bridgerton”

Shonda Rhimes and her production company Shondaland are the creators of some of our favorite shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Now, Shondaland has teamed up with Netflix to provide the first historical fiction show from the company. Here’s what we know so far.

The show, titled Bridgerton, is based on the beloved novels by romance author Julia Quinn. At the center of the novels, and thus the show, is the entire Bridgerton family clan. As these are historical romances, the show will take place sometime in the 1800s.

As the show navigates the world of the London high-society, you can expect to see a lot of fancy balls, beautiful empire-waist gowns, and a lot of jewels. It would not be a Shondaland show without a fair amount of romance, a dash of intrigue, and a whole lot of banter.

You would think that this show would be chock full of well-known stars. However, the cast is largely made of newcomers, with Phoebe Dynevor playing the lead role of Daphne Bridgerton. She is on a mission to get married by the end of the season. There is one voice you will recognize though, and that is actress Julie Andrews who narrates the show.

This is sure to be a feast for the senses, and it will hit Netflix on December 25th, 2020.
