All of your beauty and hair tools will last longer if you take good care of them. Cleaning a hair straightener will really elongate the life span of the tool, while also helping you to keep the hair healthy. Once you notice that the plates have some dirt on them, it means it’s time for a good clean.

Use Cotton Balls

Cotton ballsare very gentle and can be used for any part of the straightener. For a very deep clean, it is recommended that you first warm up the iron on the lowest of heat and then carefully go over the plates with balls dipped in alcohol. The preferred way to do it is when the straightener is completely cold.

Use An Old Toothbrush

If you notice that there are some parts in between the plates and the rest of the hair straightener that you can’t reach, you can always get an old toothbrush.

Use A Washcloth

It is very similar to using cotton balls. You can dip the washcloth in alcohol, acetone, lemon juice and even use it warm. It will perfectly clean all surfaces. You have to be careful and make sure that the straightener is unplugged.
