Japanese architect Shinsuke Fujii designed an earthquake-proof home that will allow him to avoid bigger consequences of this natural disaster that’s often happening in Japan.

His home is located in the city of Yokohama. It’s small, modern, and looks absolutely gorgeous. The most interesting part of this home is a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. Walls are made under an interesting angle that helps keep the books (among other stuff) on the shelf in case of the earthquake.

The shelves also serve as ladders which can be used to reach the top-shelve books, again, thanks to the unique angle of the wall.

The whole project was based on the idea of stability. It’s more than this library – the same structure exists on the top floor, where Fujii has his big bright salon.

It is a perfect book lover house where you can read and not worry if the books will fall onto your head if the earthquake hits.
