With the summer months quickly approaching, all sorts of bugs are coming out to annoy us. Whether you only get the occasional bug bite or feel like you are a bug magnet, using essential oils is a great natural alternative to normal bug bite creams and pills. Each oil has specific properties to combat different types of bugs and nasty side effects, so stock up for the summer ahead.

Mosquito Bites

The most common side effects from this kind of bite are swelling and itching. To combat this, use tea tree oil. This oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-itching properties, so use it as quickly as you can after the bite to reduce swelling and irritation.

Spider Bites

Spider bites can cause itching, redness, and often be quite painful. Lavender is a good choice because it has pain reducing properties and can soothe your skin which will help with the redness.
