Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the iconic vigilante with the upcoming series, Daredevil: Born Again, set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. This series marks the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, following the surprise cancellation of Daredevil by Netflix in 2018. The trailer was released this week, sparking excitement and speculation among fans.

The logline for Daredevil: Born Again reads: “Matt Murdock (Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course,” as reported by Variety.

The show picks up five years after the end of season three, with Matt, Foggy, and Karen rebuilding their law firm. However, new challenges arise, including Fisk’s political ambitions in New York and new villains like White Tiger and Muse. Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, with Dario Scardapane as the showrunner, the series will explore both Matt’s superhero and lawyer personas.

The series features returning cast members from the original show, including Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. Additionally, Jon Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Wilson Fisk, now running for mayor of New York City, promises to add a new layer of political intrigue to the series.

Cox and D’Onofrio previously shared insights into their return during an interview on The Official Marvel Podcast, where they discussed their reunion on-screen and the anticipation surrounding the show. “The characters in the comics, they’re such great characters,” Cox said in November. “The dynamic between these two in 60-plus years of comic history is phenomenal. It’s a wealth of information and knowledge to draw upon. So, we kind of hit the lottery with being cast in this show. I don’t want to embarrass Vincent, but it’s such an honor to share the screen with him… To work opposite this man has been one of the great honors of my career.”

Of the show’s unexpected renewal, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of TV and streaming, explained on a previous episode of the podcast: “It’s similar in some ways to X-Men ’97 because it’s reviving something that the fans love, but it is taking it in a new direction. These characters have matured. The universe is different than it was. Things have changed. Society’s changed […] Matt and Wilson have changed, and their characters are gonna collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try and murder each other. There’s a whole game of politics at play,” as reported by Polygon.

The series will initially release nine episodes weekly on Disney+. The production faced challenges, including a major overhaul midway with new writing and directing teams brought in to steer the series away from its initial legal procedural tone. The new direction promises political intrigue and matured character arcs, creating high anticipation among fans.

The first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again has been released, showcasing the return of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, along with new characters and challenges. The trailer has generated significant excitement among fans, highlighting the series’ darker tone and complex character dynamics.

Daredevil: Born Again will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting March 4, 2025. Subscribers can watch the series weekly as new episodes are released.
