The Met Ball, or Met Gala, formerly known as the Costume Institute Gala is known as the fashion event of the season and takes place on the first Monday of May. It has taken place every year since 1948 and was founded by Eleanor Lambert as a fundraiser for the institute. Tickets are heavily sought after by celebrities and various professionals, but the only way in is by an invite from the Vogue’s editor and chief, Anna Wintour.

Each year is a celebration of a new theme, in which the attendees often work with designers to create an inspired look that goes with the year’s theme. This year the theme celebrates Karl Lagerfeld; “Karl Lagerfeld: A line of Beauty”. He was a regular attendee at the Gala and was a creative director for the famous fashion house Chanel and Fendi.

On January 18th, Vogue announced that its 2023 hosts will be Penelope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and of course, Anna Wintour, who will oversee the event.

The Met is a highly secretive and extremely sought-after event. All its guests must follow the rules of no phones and no social media. Additionally, on average, there are around 600 guests. The guest list is also highly secretive. We will only know who has been invited once they ascend up those steps.
