Jake Kumerow managed to catch a touchdown pass for Buffalo Bills last week but even that was not enough for the team to keep the 28-year-old wideout on their roster.

According to multiple reports, the Bills decided to release Kumerow on Thursday.

The team most likely made this move to clear the spot for veteran John Brown on the active roster. Brown spent the last four weeks on Injured Reserve and is reportedly ready to return to action.

Kumerow mostly played on special teams for Bills this season, totaling just 17 snaps on the offense. The only time he was targeted was in the last week’s 48-19 win over Denver Broncos, when he made a 22-yard touchdown catch.

Despite being released, Kumerow could make his way back to Buffalo and join the team’s practice squad if he clears waivers.

Jake Kumerow entered the NFL in 2015, being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin–Whitewater by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent two years with Bengals but failed to make a single NFL appearance during that time.

Kumerow joined the Green Bay Packers in 2018 and went on to play 19 games for the team in the next two seasons. He made 20 catches for 322 yards and two scores.
