Whether you have naturally dry skin or not, drying your skin out in the winter is super easy. A lot of the problems start in the shower though, so it’s actually really easy to combat if you follow these easy tips!

Water Temperature

One surefire way to make your skin extra dry this winter is by cranking up the heat in your shower. Hot water dries out your skin, so make sure that you keep it to a lukewarm temperature. If you rely on getting warm in the shower, invest in a small heater for your bathroom so you can stay cozy without drying yourself out.

Where You Wash

In the wintertime, you’re not sweating as much, so you really don’t need to wash your whole body like you would in the summer. Most dermatologists will recommend just washing under your arms and your privates, and only occasionally washing your entire body.

Obviously, if you’ve sweated a lot during a workout you can wash your whole body, but if for your standard shower, you don’t need more than that. Also, if you do want to wash your whole body, make sure your body wash has extra moisturizing elements in it.
