You might think that if you are eating salad, then you are doing it the healthy way. Unfortunately, we have grown so accustomed to unhealthy treats, we don’t even recognize them as being bad.

So if you want to lose a couple of pounds, you might want to steer clear of the following salad ingredients.

Deli meats – Adding a bit of protein to your salad is never a bad idea, but not when the meat is processed. Unlike chicken or turkey, deli meats are high in nitrates and sodium. These meats tend to make you overeat and dehydrates and can make you feel bloated.

Candied nuts – Need I say more? Just because they are nuts doesn’t mean that they are healthy. If it’s coated in sugar, the red lights in your head should be going off. If losing weight is your goal, then sugar is the last thing you want to ingest.

Pasta – It seems that the world of health is against anything that is tasty. Unfortunately, pasta is high in calories. Rather substitute your pasta with quinoa.

Creamy dressings – Although these dressings can be super tasty, they are also high in sugar and other preservatives.

Fried foods – It might not be French fries, but any veggie-based fried food also contains masses of calories. If you crave a bit of crunch and salt in your salad, go the nutty route (no sugar added of course).
