5 Things to Clean Before Guests Arrive

When we decide to host people, we always seem to go into full panic mode when it comes to cleaning our house. In reality, our friends and family who we invite over to our house don’t really care if it’s a bit dusty or disorganized, they’re there to see you. If you’re pressed for time, these are the five areas of your house to clean.

Entryway

This is your guest’s first impression of your home, so just make sure it’s clear of shoes, jackets, and bags. Do a quick vacuum and sweep to clean it up.

Bathroom Surfaces

Of course, we notice dirt and mess in other people’s homes and in public bathrooms, but in our own homes we’re exposed to it every day, so it gets overlooked. Put away any toiletries or makeup products that are on your countertop and wipe down your counter, faucets, and toilets.

Drinking Glasses

There’s nothing grosser than finding someone else’s lipstick or dust on your glass. Prior to guests arriving rinse down your glasses and make sure to dry them right away. They’ll be so sparkly clean!

Kitchen Counters

Inevitably, your guests will gather in your kitchen, so make sure your sinks are clear and your countertops are tidy. If you have dirty dishes and are in a rush, put them in the dishwasher.

Sofa

Your pets, kids, and husband probably spend a lot of time chilling on the couch and it likely has food or pet hair all over it. Before your guests come, vacuum the couch, fluff any pillows, and fold the blankets.
