If you’re trying to lower the expenses of your work trip, staying at a hostel will get you there, but it comes with its ups and downs. Hostels are not the most common choice for business trips, and here are three things you should take into consideration before booking a room for your workation.

Lack of Privacy

The main reason why hostels and work trips don’t mix so well together is the lack of privacy. You’ll struggle to find a quiet and focused work environment in the lively hostel setting, but you can deal with this issue by using noise-canceling headphones or booking a private room.

Wi-Fi Connection

Hostels don’t always have such a great Wi-Fi connection, but you might find yourself dealing with this problem in other types of accommodation, as well. Make sure to check the reviews before making your booking and check if other guests had any trouble with the internet connection.

Dedicated Workspace?

Some coworking-orientated hostels offer dedicated workspaces, business centers, and meeting rooms, but this is extremely rare. It’s highly unlikely you’ll have a dedicated working area unless you’re staying in a private room, but you can always try to book a hostel that offers a comfy desk and table you can use in the dorm or common room.
