]]>“We believe life was not meant to be lived in one place,” reads the World of Wanderlust website. “Here you will find travel inspiration, how to live and work abroad, as well as how to work for yourself while you see the world.”
Having visited over 70 countries so far, Saward now shares her knowledge so that others can follow her adventures and gain insight into unique places around the globe. A solo traveler most of the time, Saward also teaches other women the benefits of traveling on your own—safely and consciously.
“I travel by myself 90% of the time, yet am sometimes joined by family, friends, and even readers,” she writes. “The next question is more often than not ‘don’t you get scared traveling alone!?’ and the answer is an overwhelming no! I often write about how hard it can be at times, but I really do love traveling solo as an experience and think it is something we should all experience at some stage in our lives.”
With a dedicated section to solo traveling on her website, readers are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and conquer their fears. “You don’t need a travel companion to enjoy yourself, explore a new country, or embrace a culture, unlike one you’ve never been immersed in before,” explains Saward.
“Traveling alone can truly be an experience of a lifetime,” she further relays in another post. “Not only are all the decisions up to you, but you’re more likely to introduce yourself to new people and truly immerse yourself in the culture. These are just a few reasons why you should consider going on your next adventure solo.”
You also don’t have to travel internationally in order to enjoy the benefits of solo traveling. Take her lead:

]]>Based in Bristol, Victoria has been traveling regularly, sometimes full time, for the past 17 years. Having started out as a journalist, she works as a freelance editor and writer and dreams of having her own guesthouse.
“I’m that friend you always ask for travel tips, who you can rely on to have done all the research and sought out the places that make a trip unique,” she writes on her website. “I’m a 100% travel geek—and a certified cake and book fiend.”
Favoring a local style of travel, her brand isn’t dedicated to the “must-sees”, but rather offers a way of travel that aims at soaking up the atmosphere and experiencing local life.
“We favor independents over chains, and while we’re vegetarian, we tend to eat in restaurants that are known to be good for all food rather than just veggie stuff,” reads the Bridges and Balloons website. “We love places that have a story behind them, and we prioritize the experience over the price, featuring both budget and luxury styles.”
They also have a dedicated section on their site to family travel, with some of their favorite family trips including a one-month California road trip, a Southern USA road trip, and their first trip to Barcelona with a baby.

]]>Describing herself as an unofficial cultural anthropologist, Rardon is deeply inspired by cultures around the world—the traditions that define us, the rhythms that shape our days, and the rituals that bring communities together. Originally from the state of Virginia, Rardon has spent more than a decade traveling and living abroad, in cultures like India, New Zealand, and Uruguay.
“At the beginning, I pursued my passion for world cultures through writing,” she writes on her website, explaining her development as a travel blogger. “I earned my Master’s in Travel Writing with distinction from London’s Kingston University, before writing for a variety of publications,” she adds. Now a regular writer for the popular meditation app Calm, her visual story forms also lead to exciting collaborations with National Geographic and a feature in the New York Times.
Her work celebrates the transformative power of journeys. “Travel can change us, send us off in new directions,” writes Rardon, “and—sometimes when we least expect it—help us feel at home.”

]]>“What captures my heart and soul when I travel are the people that I meet abroad,” she writes in one blog post. “I was blown away by the kindness of the local people and their hospitality.” Her travels also include many a-road trips. “When I go on road trips, I try to pack light and bring the necessities,” says Friend, “because sometimes it involves car camping and it makes my life a whole lot easier if I pack light.”
With a knack for connecting with her audience in a meaningful and long-lasting way, the young travel blogger often leaves an indelible impression through her social media presence, reflected perfectly in her last name Friend.
But when it comes to her favorite places to travel to, she sticks close at home.”If you were to ask me what one of my favorite places to roam around in is, Mt. Rainier would be at the top of my list,” writes Friend. “Why? Growing up in Washington, when the clouds finally clear, it shows itself so majestically. It towers over Western Washington and makes itself known. It has a powerful presence to it.”

]]>“Wildluxe was born out of an immense passion for adventure and a desire to share my explorations with others,” shared Gillingham in an interview with Husskie. “It was not something that I thought would turn into a business. At that time, making an income off of blogging was pretty unheard of.”
Jump forward almost a decade later, and Gillingham now has thousands on top thousands of followers. What makes Wildluxe standout in comparison to other travel blogs is its subject matter. According to Gillingham, she seeks out the unique, less traveled, and more intimate places around the globe. The properties she chooses to feature are hand-selected and are surrounded by exquisite natural landscapes, offering guests a once-in-a-lifetime, truly memorable experience where they can get back to nature.
“I must admit I’ve always been fascinated by luxury hotels and all of the things that go into creating that perfect five-star guest experience,” says Gillingham. “There are so many variables involved and I just love when it is executed flawlessly. It’s an art form and I want to give people a closer look at it.”
A firm believer that getting outdoors is a key component in living a happy and healthy lifestyle, Gillingham encourages her followers to love more and do more of what you love. “Don’t waste any time on negative emotions that don’t serve you, and most certainly—do not stand in your own way!” she stresses. Words to live by, especially these days.
