If we had to pick a single winter sport that everyone knows and loves, we’d have to go with ice skating. Like all the other outdoor spaces that are usually pretty crowded, ice rinks look different this winter, but there are still many ways to safely enjoy this family-friendly sport in the era of social distancing.

Safety Rules

Ice rinks around the world are operating under limited capacity right now, with clear safety guidelines in place. If you decide to visit them, make sure you’re staying six feet apart from other visitors, and sanitize your hands and equipment. Also, don’t forget it’s highly recommended to wear a face-covering, especially if you’re ice skating indoors.

Time Your Visit

You can also do your own part in avoiding the crowds. Ice rinks usually tend to be packed in the afternoon, and you should try to avoid peak hours. If your local ice rinks are open in the mornings, show up as early as possible, and try to skip the weekends altogether.

Come Prepared

Ice rinks are usually operating at under 50% of their usual capacity, and that’s why it’s a good idea to book your session if possible. You’ll save a lot of time and energy this way, and if you happen to have your own skates and hamlet, now’s a better time than ever to bring them along.

As the pandemic continues and the cold weather has blown in, it’s time to come up with creative date ideas. An indoor picnic is both romantic and easy to set up, all while allowing you to physically distance from people. There are a few things you need to turn an indoor picnic from quaint to wildly romantic.

Blankets and Cushions

No picnic is complete without a nice big blanket. If you want a matching look, choose a blanket that is in a neutral shade like white or black. It will match any cutlery or plates that you use. You may even want to have extra blankets on hand if you want to snuggle up with your special someone. A couple of cushions to sit on or to simply lounge against, is a good idea.

The Table

Since you’re inside, it’s okay to use a coffee table or another low hanging table to spread your feast out on. Just remember to decorate it nicely, with a runner, platters of delicious food, and wine glasses. No romantic picnic is complete without some nice wine or a sparkling beverage.

Music

Another great thing about picnicking inside and enjoying the warmth of a heater is the fact that you can have some music playing. Pull out your Bluetooth speaker and create a playlist with all of your favorite tunes. This will further add to the ambiance of your lovely evening with a significant other.

For many passionate travelers, no trip can go without a visit to a couple of museums. They’re amongst the safest places to visit right now since it’s pretty easy to maintain social distance, especially if you follow these five steps.

Crucial Info

The first step of planning your socially distant museum visit is checking if the museum you want to visit is open in the first place since many closed their doors due to COVID-19.

Avoid the Tours

Museum visits with a licensed guide can be very informative and fun, but exploring the exhibits on your own is a much better option than joining a group of tourists.

Follow the Rules

Wearing a face covering and abiding the social distancing rules is a must everywhere you go, and museums are no exception.

Time Your Visit

To avoid the crowds, you should consider visiting the museum early in the morning when the least people are around. If you think that spending hours indoors with your mask on will be too challenging, plan what you want to see in advance.

Virtual Tours

If all of this sounds like too much work, you can try visiting museums from the comfort of your home. Many of them offer virtual tours that you can enjoy without going out.

With everything surrounding the coronavirus, people around the world have been practicing social distancing for several months now. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get stressed out and feel lonely during these times. The good news is is that there are a lot of ways to keep yourself entertained and social that don’t involve leaving your house. These tips will help get you through the pandemic that’s sweeping our world.

Establish Boundaries

While you may love spending time with your other half, being at home together 24/7 can ignite irritation. If you’re both working remotely, make sure you have your own personal space. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for alone time when you need it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-CQAALpPeS/

Have a Netflix Party

We wrote about it in another article, but in case you missed it, back in March, Google Chrome has added an extension called Netflix Party that allows you to watch programs on Netflix at the same time as family and friends without being in the same house.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-AzVunBj44/

Schedule Virtual Dates

Take a break by video chatting with your friends and family with tools like Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Skype. Staying connected and knowing you’re not alone is important during these times.

Workout at Home

If you’re new to working out at home, YouTube is a great place to start as there are a plethora of workout videos available. Also, many gyms are streaming classes online, so they’re really something out there for everyone.

The pandemic created many problems on top of those related to health. The economy is currently suffering as many businesses are unable to work, and those who can work from home are now in a weird situation where their whole lives revolve around one place.

We live, work, eat, and sleep at the same place and so do our family members and pretty much all our neighbors, so it’s no wonder we’re all tired of this dynamic.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CCk_GSAn5GH/

But things get even worse when your neighbors are being noisy. Imagine you have to work but all you can hear is the noise from the apartment above you. How can you deal with that?

Nobody finds confronting the neighbors easy. You have to have an awkward conversation that may not even solve the problem, but it’s the first thing you should try. If you’re lucky, a conversation will be enough. If the neighbors are reasonable, they will understand the situation and keep the noise under control.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDMbX0rl0cS/

If you don’t know the neighbors or they don’t seem friendly, the task can seem daunting. However, if you don’t address the problem they may not even be aware that they’re too loud. Try to approach them without mentioning the problem first so you can set the tone and have a more relaxed conversation about noise later.

While social distancing during the coronavirus it’s hard not to feel cooped up and what can you do with all your pent up energy? Sure, you can always binge watch TV, but you can make better use of your time while relieving your energy and using your creativity. Here are five things you can do while staying inside.

Flip Your Space

Get creative with what you have and move your furniture around to different corners, your drapes to another room, and restyling your wall art. Your space will feel refreshed and new after you make these small changes.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBx01RagRsB/

Host a Date Night For One

Even if you’re the only one in your home, it’s nice to get dressed up, make a nice dinner, and to sip on some wine.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_YD9L-nYye/

Do a Workout Video

Get active, take out the yoga mat, and watch a YouTube workout video. There are so many to choose from, but our personal favorite when it comes to variety is POPSUGAR FITNESS.

Make a Spa Date

Light some candles, play some soft music, and throw in a bath-bomb in your bath. After you’ve soaked up, apply a face mask, nail polish, and moisturizer. You’ll feel relaxed and pampered by the end of this.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBtKyA8D767/

Declutter Your Closet

We all have that closet that’s long overdue to be cleared out. Make it easier by putting everything in a pile and going through each item one by one to decide what to keep and what to donate.

PowerPoint parties are the latest social distancing trend. If you live in a place where you still need to practice social distancing and can’t hang out with your friends the way you used to, this is a fun way to hang out online.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBkgA0TpHRS/

What is a PowerPoint party? It’s basically a party where the attendees give presentations on the topics they choose. It absolutely doesn’t have to be boring, even though that’s most people’s first association with its name. You and your friends can prepare presentations on any topic that interests you, and can spice things up with drinking, fun questions, themed costumes, etc.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBTJbXEg3EU/

If you want to give a PowerPoint party a try, first find a group of people who would enjoy something like this. Explain to them what’s going on and discuss the dress code and the general guidelines. It’s best if you do this with a small group of people so that everyone gets a chance to do a short presentation. You can then discuss the topics. And once the pandemic is over, you can keep throwing these parties but do them in person instead of online!

If you’re into fitness and going to the gym, the past few months have probably been incredibly difficult for you. As exercising is part of your daily routine and with the gym closed, the only alternative is to workout at your home. While exercising at home is an option, it’s nice to leave the house and enjoy the beautiful weather. Working out outside is always an option as long as you maintain social distancing and make smart choices. Here are some tips for working out outside during the coronavirus.

Keep Your Distance

When working out outside, it’s essential to keep at least six feet of physical distance. Try and find times that are less busy and places that have fewer people. If you see that people aren’t maintaining safe social distances, find a new place to workout.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-w-f_Xj9UP/

Create Your Own Space and Keep it Clean

You can create your own mini gym by bringing your TRX trainers, resistance bands, and yoga mats to the park or playground. Make sure you have disinfectant wipes with you to wipe down surfaces before you use them.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBRNGZFM58l/

Keep Workout Groups Small

Many of us prefer group fitness classes to working out on our own, and you can still do group classes while adhering to social distancing guidelines. Before you gather with friends, check to see the rules regarding gatherings from your state. Or you can join an outdoor class, which are being offered by many gyms and they’re usually good about sticking to health and safety practices.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBVoXMnnv20/

Wear a Mask

The rules are a bit unclear regarding if you need to wear masks while exercising, but we suggest erring on the side of caution as face masks reduce the transmission of the coronavirus.

Social distancing alone can be extremely isolating and it’s easy to feel lonely. It’s actually the small things that can spark joy during this time. These things will help increase your endorphins and dopamine, so you’ll instantly feel happier.

Eat Something

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Well, it turns out that chocolate can release endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin, which will boost your mood. So next time you feel down, eat a square or two of dark chocolate. If you prefer something savory, spicy foods have capsaicin and when you eat it, it sends a signal to your brain to relieve pain, which releases endorphins to make you feel good.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-cbNIonTe_/

Smell Something

Smell has a major role in how we deal with stress and certain smells like vanilla, pine, and freshly cut grass can help you feel calmer.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9ZUL2pl57s/

Play Something

Music has the power to release emotions and the songs we listen to have a direct effect on the amount of dopamine released by our brain. Maybe that’s why we associate certain songs with breakups, romance, and happiness. The sounds of nature like rainstorms, babbling brooks, ocean waves, or wind rustling the leaves, will also help you relax.

Host a Date Night For One

Even if you’re the only one in your home, it’s nice to get dressed up, make a nice dinner, and to sip on some wine.

Create Your Own Space and Keep it Clean

You can create your own mini gym by bringing your TRX trainers, resistance bands, and yoga mats to the park or playground. Make sure you have disinfectant wipes with you to wipe down surfaces before you use them.

Smell Something

Smell has a major role in how we deal with stress and certain smells like vanilla, pine, and freshly cut grass can help you feel calmer.
