]]>The journey to voluminous hair begins in the shower. Try using volumizing shampoos and conditioners that are designed to add lift and body. Avoid heavy, moisturizing products that can weigh your hair down. You can also try using a light mouse after the shower.
When blow-drying your hair, flip your head upside down. This encourages the roots to stand away from the scalp, which naturally adds volume. Finish with a blast of cool air to set the style and add more fullness.
Hair rollers can add incredible volume and bounce. Use them on damp hair and leave them in while you do your makeup. For a modern twist, try using Velcro rollers at the crown of your head for added lift.
Finally, changing the direction of your hair parting can lift the roots and add volume. If you usually part your hair on the left, try flipping it to the right, or vice versa.

]]>If you’re growing your hair, you won’t want to hear this, but it’s impossible to avoid. The truth is, if your hair is split at the ends, dry, and damaged, it won’t grow quickly or steadily in this state. Damage can travel up the hair, from the tip to the root, so that it can start to feel like despite months of hard work, your hair is hardly growing at all. Go to the hair salon and explain that you’re growing it – your stylist will take an inch or two off the bottom, leaving your strands feeling refreshed and healthy.
Store bought hair masks often contain silicones and sulfates, which may make your hair feel glossy, but in fact offer little in terms of genuine hair health. Make your own mask, by whisking the whites of two eggs into half a cup of melted coconut oil. Add one tablespoon of honey, and one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, blend these ingredients into the mix. Apply to damp hair, leave for as long as possible, and then rinse.
If you’re applying a mask or conditioner, increase the potency by wrapping your coated hair in plastic, such as clingfilm. Doing this means that the heat from your scalp activates the ingredients in the mask, allowing them to penetrate deeper into each hair. Wrapping also lets you go about your chores and daily activities, without dripping conditioner all over your house.

]]>For thick curly hair, deep hydrating conditioner is your friend. Keep an eye out for natural oils like almond oil, coconut oil, and argan oil. These ingredients will keep your hair shiny and soft and help fight frizz to help your curls keep their natural shape.
If your hair is straight and fine, you can look for volumizing conditioners to help give it body. Proteins, keratin, and biotin will help strengthen your strands to give them more thickness. Some conditioners have polymers added to plump your hair up without weighing it down.
If your hair is dry, damaged, or bleach-treated, look for silicones in your conditioner. These are a good option for straighter dry hair as they will add shine and smoothness but may take the shape out of curls. If you prefer natural products, you can buy plant oil-based conditioners.

We all know the wonders that hair spray can perform, but the list of ingredients usually contains a few harsh chemicals. Good news—you can make your own!

]]>Long hair generally doesn’t need much upkeep, and even on bad hair days, it can be put up in a bun or ponytail and still look sleek and tidy. Adding some soft layers to your long hair will help give it texture and volume, and spice up your style without being too extreme.
Stylists say that it’s best to keep mid-length hair below should length rather than above, because it will look more natural as it grows out so you won’t need to visit the salon very often. At this length, it’s just long enough to require as little styling as long hair, but short enough to be more versatile and to keep you cool during the summer months.
One of the lowest-maintenance cuts is a classic layered pixie. You might need more frequent salon visits than longer cuts, but styling is a breeze. It dries in minutes, so no heat treatment is required. Just throw some pomade in after you shower and you’re good to go.

]]>Using shampoo and other hair products too often can strip your hair of natural oils, which is the last thing you want if your hair is already dry. That’s why it’s best to avoid washing your hair on a daily basis.
There are plenty of hair products you can buy to moisturize hair, but natural remedies are probably safer and even more effective. Before you spend money on expensive products try using at-home remedies such as coconut oil, olive oil, eggs, mashed bananas or avocados, because they can help recover dry hair.
The heat from all those styling tools that we use on a regular basis is also damaging and drying out our hair. That’s why cutting down on tools like curling irons, hot brushes and even blow dryers can really help your hair recover.

]]>According to Amy Chang, applying conditioner to your roots can be the crucial step that makes all the difference. When your scalp is dry and flaky, your hair can’t look its best. If your scalp gets greasy quickly, make sure you use a light conditioner that won’t weigh it down.
Sodium lauryl sulfate is a common ingredient in shampoos that can be very damaging for your hair. It’s basically a detergent that helps remove dirt, but it can be very aggressive and strip even the good oils from your hair.
Massaging the scalp when you wash your hair will help you cleanse it gently and make your hair look better than ever after you’re done styling it. It will only take a few extra minutes and feel amazing!

]]>It’s crucial to be gentle with your hair while it’s still wet. Rubbing it with a towel will make it easier to break, so you should instead gently squeeze the excess water and wrap your hair in a cotton or microfiber towel before proceeding.
Air-dry creams allow you to save some time while drying your hair and enhance its natural texture. They aren’t activated by heat and work great on many different hair types.
It’s important to use a gentle brush that won’t break your hair, such as Tangle Teezer brushes. Brush your hair a few times as it dries and expects a voluminous hairstyle in the end! Make sure you’re not using regular brushes that aren’t designed for use on damp hair.
