On top of this, new year celebrations often call for intense, glitter based eye make up looks, which can also cause damage and distress to our eyes. If your eyes are feeling the strain, check out these simple tips on taking care of them.

Check Your Eye Make-Up Remover

Invest in a good quality eye makeup remover, and when you’re taking off your makeup hold a cotton pad soaked in remover over your eye for 10 – 20 seconds before wiping. This helps to loosen the makeup and stops you scrubbing at your eyes, which can lead to damage and irritation.

Consider Eye Drops

Most pharmacies sell simple eye drops which can help to reduce itching and redness. Follow the instructions on the pack and monitor daily to see if your eyes are feeling healthier.

Replace Your Products

One of the main causes of irritated eyes is using beauty products which have expired. Check the use by dates on products such as your mascara and eyeliner, and be prepared to replace these every 6 months. Remember to clean brushes, especially those which are applying eyeshadow or will come into close contact with your eyes.

Ingredients:

Make sure that you note these ingredients to the shopping list: 2 teaspoons rosehip oil, 4 teaspoons avocado oil, 2 teaspoons calendula oil, 2 teaspoons melted beeswax, 3 drops lemon essential oil, 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch, 1 vitamin E capsule. This is all you need to make your natural and super-efficient eye cream.

How to Make it:

Start by getting a double boiler, and boiling the water inside. Continue by adding the ingredients from the list. The only two things you should not add are the lemon essential oil and the vitamin E. Once all of the other things are completely melted into a mixture, you should take the double boiler away from the oven. Also take the mixture away from the boiling water. This is when you include the vitamin E and the lemon essential oil. Your eye cream is almost done. Put the mixture into jars and store it in a cool place.

What if there was something that you could do differently to improve your makeup? You might be able to pull off that cat eye like a pro in no time.

Don’t overdo the bottom lid

This is an important thing to take care if you want to make your eyes seem very small. In all likelihood, you’ll also end up with an under-eye smudge.

Rather go for a lighter pencil for a subtle look.
