There is so much you can do with a mason jar, especially in the morning, to make your day start out right. Here are a few ways to get the help you need early in the day with a mason jar.

Froth Milk

Turn your coffee up a notch in the morning without stepping foot into a cafe by adding frothed milk on top of it. Pour as much milk as you would normally use for your coffee, but still less than half of the jar, into a mason jar and screw on the lids. Vigorously shake the jar for 30-60 seconds. Unscrew the lid, microwave for 30 seconds, and you have perfect foam every time!

Breakfast

If you are someone who doesn’t have the biggest drive to wake up and start the day, take a bit more time to sleep and bring your breakfast on the go in a mason jar. If you don’t have all the time in the world to make a big flashy cake for yourself or for guests, you can still procure something homemade and easy in no time! Try making a mug cake, which is exactly as it sounds; a cake made in a coffee mug. Not only will you have individual cakes for as many people as you need, but you do all of the prep work in the mug. Give them a try for your next dinner party or when your sweet tooth kicks.

  1. Combine self-raising flour, sugar and cocoa powder to a mug. Mix well.
  2. Add in one egg and combine as best as you can.
  3. Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract and combine.
  4. Finish with chocolate chips, nuts, or small candies if you like.
  5. Pop it in the microwave for 1 1/2-2 minutes on high until the cake has puffed up.
  6. Serve the while they’re hot!

Pro Tip: Make a mug cake buffet and have different icings, jams, candies, and syrups to put on top of each cake so everyone can decide exactly what they’re like. Keep the cakes warm by placing some tin foil on top of them.

Materials

For this DIY project, you only need a jar, yarn, tape, spray paint, and tea lights or fairy lights. You can completely customize this light with different sizes of jars, and different spray paint colors.

Instructions

  1. Make sure your jar is fully clean on the outside and in.

Tools

This project is great because you don’t need that many tools, and there are almost no fancy techniques involved. For this coat rack, you will need several spoons, a plank of wood, a drill, and a hammer.

Method

  1. Take your spoons and flatten the head with the hammer.
  2. Drill a hole in the head so you can nail it into the wood later
  3. Bend the spoon around the hammerhead to create a hook shape
  4. Sand the wood plank and decorate or paint as you like
  5. Nail the heads of the spoons into the plank leaving at least 3-4 inches between them
  6. Your coat rack is ready!

Pro-Tips

If you don’t have enough spoons for this project, you can also use forks. You can also either leave the spoons their natural color or spray paint all of them to be cohesive.
