Going to the salon to get a pedicure is a nice way to treat yourself, but it’s important to keep your feet at their best even between the salon visits. As many of us are currently forced to stay at home and miss out on beauty salons, among many other things, here’s how you can give yourself a perfect pedicure at home.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBwxlAfD9uQ/

1. Remove Nail Polish

The first step should always be removing the old nail polish so you can give your nails the chance to absorb the ingredients from the products you will use later. Even if you didn’t have any polish on, wiping the nails with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover will remove any oils and dirt.

2. Soak

Enjoy as your feet are soaking for around 15 minutes in warm water and soap of your favorite smell. You can use this time to relax, read, or try a new face mask.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBxea30jrmf/

3. File and Moisturize

After you’ve removed the excess water from your feet, use a file to get rid of dead skin and moisturize your whole feet.

4. Shape Nails

Shorten your toenails and use a file to achieve the desired shape. You can trim or cut the cuticles if you want at this point and apply cuticle oil.

5. Paint Nails

Choose your favorite color and paint your nails in two thin layers, but make sure to apply the base coat before that and a quick-drying top coat after.

Decorating for the holidays is always such a fun idea—but who says it just has to be the front lawn that you deck out?

Whether you’re planning a big BBQ blow-out for the 4th of July, or just a nice night in with the family, why not spice up your nail art? Check out some of these trendy and unique tips to show your patriotic spirit this year!

Negative Space

Using negative space when thinking about nail art design is one of the trendiest ways to deck out your nails. After all, one of the most popular designs is the “French Tip”, which is a play on negative space. There are all sorts of ways to utilize this technique and show off your nation’s pride.

5+ Shades of Blue (or Red)

If you’re looking for a quick and simple way to spruce up your nails for the holiday, then this technique is perfect for you! Nothing shouts patriotic more than our flag’s colors. Playing around with different shades of blue, red, or even white with each nail is a great and fun way to do something different. In fact, you could even do one hand in blue and the other in red, too!

Decals

Another simple, yet trendy way to spice up your nails, is with nail decals. Paint your nails any color you want – preferably red, white, and/or blue – and smack on some cool stars, stripes, or fireworks nail stickers to give it that extra 4th of July spirit!

The lockdown has us all staying at home, trying to find fun things to do to pass the time. Beauty rituals are a great lockdown activity as they are relaxing and confidence-boosting. If you happen to run out of your favorite product, don’t stress over it; you probably have something to replace it with or you can make something new using the ingredients you have at home.

Today we’re talking about a great body scrub that requires minimum effort but gives great results. You can use it on your whole body, especially in the areas with cellulite. You can make it with only two ingredients or add a few more if you have them and feel like it.

The main ingredients are coffee and melted coconut oil — 1/2 cup of coconut oil and 1 cup of ground coffee should be enough. You can also add some sugar, essential oils, and cinnamon oil if you have it. Since this scrub can be kept for up to a year in the fridge, you can easily make more and store it in a jar.

Use it after showering, then rinse and dry. Moisturize your skin and enjoy the feeling of softness.

Until we’re able to go to beauty salons again, we’re left to doing our own beauty rituals at home. If you like making your own beauty products, you’re going to love this simple face scrub that requires only two ingredients that you probably already have at home.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B8tnTM6njdZ/

It doesn’t get any simpler than this: mix two teaspoons of corn starch and one egg white in a bowl and you got a perfect face scrub/mask. Apply it to your face and leave for around 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water, making light round motions with your fingers. Oily skin requires the treatment two times per week while for dry skin, once per week is enough. If your skin is sensitive, you can add some honey that will reduce the inflammation.

Do you have a favorite beauty product you make yourself? The lockdown is a great time to try something like this and perhaps you’ll discover a favorite that you’ll continue using for years.

Because we don’t always remember to apply eye cream before bed.

Cucumbers

We always see cucumbers being placed on the eyes in spa scenes of our favorite movies and TV shows, but do they actually work? The answer is yes. Cucumbers contain natural skin-lightening properties.

Rose Water

Rose water smells incredible and is a savior for dark circles. Applying a few drops to a cotton ball and gently rubbing it under your eyes can quickly rejuvenate tired skin.

Cold Tea Bags

If you have some extra green tea bags lying around, they can do wonders to your skin. The antioxidants in green tea have powerful anti-inflammatory agents.

Turmeric

Turmeric powder has been helping us out in the beauty world for years. It is a natural antioxidant that can naturally minimize the appearance of dark circles.

Orange Juice

A few drops of orange juice under the eyes can help remove dark circles as it’s high in powerful vitamins. Just be careful not to get it inside your eyes!

Coconut Oil

You are probably already aware of the beauty superhero that is coconut oil. Applying a thin layer under the eyes before bed moisturizes while it prevents fine lines and wrinkles.

Long, thick lashes are definitely something every lady dreams of. Thankfully, you can use a homemade eyelash growth serum that will help you get that seductive look. We wanted to share this great recipe with you and you can thank us later. It’s literally done in just minutes.

The ingredient list is very simple and these are things you can literally find anywhere. What’s even better, it’s made with essential oils, which most ladies already have in their beauty cabinets. It also features vitamin E which will additionally promote lash growth. Better get to work ladies.

Ingredients:

  • empty mascara tube
  • 2 drops cedarwood
  • 8 ml castor oil
  • 2 capsules vitamin E
  • 2 drops lavender
https://www.instagram.com/p/BzniybKAxOI/?fbclid=IwAR3qhamJRBAZm2XT4b1w1JxouYHKMPLT7AOJSmoIZkO9uQMmhm0ijRlo7BQ

Instructions:

The instructions are so easy, you won’t even believe it. All you have to do is get a clean mascara tube or any other type of similar tube. Start by adding all the ingredients into the tube and mix them well.

The eyelash growth serum is safe to use every night on clean eyelashes. If this is your first time using similar ingredients you can start by mixing 1 drop of each essential oil and 1 drop of Cedarwood. Feel free to use any brand that you like.

DIY Lash Serum ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All you need are empty mascara tubes with wands, castor oil, and Lavender + Cedarwood oils. Rosemary is a great addition too if you have it on hand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To make the serum: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Add 1 drop each of Lavender and Cedarwood (1 drop Rosemary also if you’re adding it!). Start with 1ish drops for your first tube and see how you do- you can always add more drops later. Then fill almost all the way to the top with castor oil. Leave some room because when you put wand in it will push the serum up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Apply at night, as your last step. I brush it though my lashes and use it on my brows too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After having lash extensions on for almost 5 years this serum has been an amazing addition to my nightly routine. It took about 5-6 weeks to see some good progress but now 8 weeks in I’ve seen big growth! I’m excited to see your results too! If you make it, tag me- and be sure to share your progress with me too. ✨ . . . . . . #livecolorfully #flashesofdelight #thehappynow #liveauthentic #instagood #pursuepretty #theeverygirl #stayinspired #essentialoils #yleo #motherhoodsimplified #simpleliving #theartofslowliving #goodvibes #naturalhome #goldendropsociety #oilsforeverything #naturalmama #healthyliving #oilsforthewin #theeverygirlathome #diy #eyelashextensions #selfcare #lashserum #eyelashserum #lashextensions #lashbar #eyebrows #brows

You may think taking good care of your skin requires a lot of time and money, but the truth is that nature has already given us a lot of amazing ingredients we can use to look great! If you’re trying to find ways to rejuvenate your skin in a natural way, this easy homemade mask made from yogurt and bananas will help you.

Thanks to its acidic properties, yogurt works wonders for our skin by removing all dead skin cells and increasing cell turnover. That’s why this face mask will help your skin look glowy and younger.  Also, bananas are packed with nutrients and vitamins that keep skin hydrated and healthy.

The team behind the Huda Beauty blog shared this recipe for a quick face mask anyone can make at home and it’s definitely worth trying.

Ingredients:

  • 2tbsps of yogurt
  • 1 mashed ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (not essential but super hydrating and has anti-inflammatory properties)

When it comes to conditioner, you can really spend a lot of money if you’re looking for the natural stuff. Instead, why not make your own in less than 10 minutes and save yourself the money while still getting amazing results! Check out this DIY conditioner below.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B3eRNYln_W1/

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of organic coconut oil, or regular coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E
  • 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil
  • 5-7 drops of lavender essential oil, or more if you want a really strong scent
https://www.instagram.com/p/B1VakI2JjLr/

Instructions:

  1. Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix everything up for about 5-8 minutes with a whisk or fork so it’s well combined and aerated.
  2. Then, transfer the mixture to a jar or bowl with a lid and keep it in the fridge if you want it to be in solid form, or at room temperature if you don’t mind it being liquid. Either form is fine!
  3. To use, take a nickel size amount or less if your hair is shorter and start from the end of your hair, working the conditioner to just about your ears. Avoid the crown of your head because if you don’t your hair will look greasy since it’s an oil-based conditioner.
  4. Leave it in your hair for 2-5 minutes, then rinse it out and you’re done!

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Leave the mix in the fridge to chill – the cool temperature will feel fresh and also help temporarily tighten your skin when it’s applied.
  3. Spread the mix all over your face with a brush and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
  4. Continue with your serums and moisturizers and you’re good to go.
