]]>Jenkins was only eight when she learned to knit and crochet, and she hasn’t stopped ever since. She drew inspiration from everything around, before realizing that food was her absolute favorite creative outlet.
“I was always looking for different ways to use my love of wool, textile, and color. And that’s how my art was born. The everyday has always fascinated and inspired me, particularly food. So I began to take things we all know and love—like fish and chips—reinventing them in wool,” explains Jenkins on her official website.
Jenkins explored her love for knitwear design at the University of Brighton, where she graduated with a degree in fashion and textiles. In addition to finding huge success with her viral, food-inspired crochets, she worked with several major fashion brands, including Missoni, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren.

]]>Well, they’re not what you think—heated blankets. They’re actually a blanket in which you knit or crochet a set number of rows each day and you correspond your yarn color to the temperature it is outside.
You don’t have to be a knitting expert as these blankets are a great way to give knitting or crocheting a shot. They use a basic crochet stitch and you can decide what colors you would like to use in your blanket. Like, for example, you can use light blue for temperatures cooler than 20, green for temperatures in the 30s, and red for temperatures in the 40s.
Typically, people choose blue tones for colder weather and orange or red tones for warmer weather, but you can be as creative as you want! At the end of the year, you’ll have a colorful blanket that tells the temperature story of the year.
You can still get started on your blanket even though we are in February by researching what the temperatures were in January and starting from there.

“I’m set on making full use of yarn’s texture and bright colors to create three-dimensional, saturated pieces, in which the image itself harmonizes and resonates with its physical form as well as with my artistic technique and vision,” the artist wrote for Bored Panda.
“Sometimes I make beautiful pieces. It does not have a practical use but exists to make your life brighter, to amuse, and to captivate you,” she added.

]]>For this DIY, all you’ll need is friendship bracelet string and a pair of hoop earrings!
Alternatively, instead of just wrapping the string, you can make what’s called a Chinese staircase by simply making knots throughout the hoop. Tie the piece of string to the hoop, pull the string out to make it look like a circle on the side, then put the string through the hole and pull. Continue doing that throughout the whole hoop and you’ll have an even more unique design!
