Henna freckles have been a huge trend recently, especially on TikTok. Some love them and others hate them, but nobody can deny that they are one of the most popular beauty trends right now. Henna is often used for temporary tattoos and is considered to be safe for skin, but drawing freckles on with henna does come with certain risks. 

The most important thing to pay attention to is the type of henna you’re using. There are many henna dyes that are meant to be used for hair coloring and those should never bee used on the face. This type of henna is actually illegal to use on the skin, according to the FDA.

In order to avoid potential harm, look for naturally-derived dyes, preferably from a henna artist who has experience using them on the skin. Don’t forget to do a patch test before committing!
