If you can’t or don’t want to consume dairy for any reason, homemade soy milk is a great alternative. Soy has been a staple of Asian diets for thousands of years. It’s a great plant-based protein source and a perfect ingredient to make dairy-free milk. Of course, you can get soy milk at nearly any store, but making your own is cheaper and usually healthier.

In the video below, published by Mary’s Test Kitchen Youtube channel, you can learn how to make your own soy milk at home.

“Making your own soy milk is super easy and super cheap! All you need is some soybeans, water, a blender, a pot to cook it in and something to strain the milk like a nut milk bag, a jelly bag, or a few layers of cheesecloth,” reads the video description.

You can add flavor with a sweetener of your choice or use it to make other things like tofu or soy cheese. Homemade soy milk has a different taste from most soy milk brands you can buy in the stores but you can play with flavors until you find a perfect combination.
