Design Choices That May Make Your Home Look Outdated

While design is often subjective, it’s clear to anyone that certain styles have been out of fashion for years, if not decades. Here are some design choices that you’ll want to avoid so that your home doesn’t get an outdated look.

Oak Furniture

Throughout the 1980s, oak furnishings were wildly popular. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. If you want a more modern look, rather opt for some other trims of wood or perhaps ditch the wood altogether.

Themed Bedrooms

While themed bedrooms may look cute for children, the idea that adults can pull this off has been ruled out for decades. Although there’s nothing wrong with getting some pieces of furniture with patterns on, avoid allowing your entire room to have the same uniform color scheme or pattern.

Striking Floors

Avoid brightly-colored carpets, yellow-gold hardwood floors, and vinyl flooring. Instead, opt for a more subtle ceramic tiling or a lighter wood.
