]]> Nespresso machines are a great way to get awesome tasting coffee at home without having to spend a lot of money on a cup of coffee out. However, if you’re buying those single-use pods all the time, you’re having a negative impact on the environment. This is because they’re made from plastic and they cannot be reused.

Instead, opt for the reusable pods so you can enjoy your coffee in a greener way.

The idea of Nespresso is that you make one coffee at a time, which is convenient, but also wasteful. When you make regular coffee with an espresso maker or even a drip coffee machine, you’re using one filter to make a large amount of coffee, which is pretty sustainable. So, to get close to that, just buy reusable pods for your Nespresso machine and fill them with your favorite coffees!

You can find lots of reusable alternatives, most with stainless steel so you can reuse the pod as much as you want. Even though it might be an investment at first, it’s really worth it when you think of how many pods you’re going to be saving yourself from buying. So drink your coffee, but do it more sustainably.

]]> Within the past couple of years, beeswax wraps have gotten to be a really popular product for obvious reasons. They do the job of plastic wrap by preserving food without all the waste that the single-use plastic brings into the world. Although it’s obviously a lot cheaper to buy a plastic wrap, the environment really suffers, and since you can reuse these wraps for a long time you’ll definitely save money in the long run.

Recipe

  1. First, start off by buying or using some already available organic cotton fabric and washing and drying it.
  2. Make a double boiler and put in 0.5 oz of copal resin into a glass bowl to melt over medium-high heat, which will take about 45 minutes to an hour. Copal resin is a resin from a tree so it’s totally natural!
  3. Then, add in 1.25 oz of beeswax and 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil into the bowl and melt that together for about 15 minutes with the resin.
  4. While this melts, preheat the oven to 300 F.
  5. On a parchment lined sheet, put the fabric down and brush it with the mixture and bake for 5 minutes.
  6. Brush the cloth again and bake for 3 minutes.
  7. Brush it a final time and hang to dry and cool and then use!

Vacuum Insulated

If you’re looking for a bottle to keep your liquids super cold or nice and warm for multiple hours, this is the water bottle for you. It uses two chambers to do so, which makes it a bit heavier.

Stainless Steel

This is a most cost-effective option to vacuum insulated bottles. You can’t put hot liquid in it and your cold liquids won’t stay cold for long, but it is BPA free!

Plastic

If you are doing a lot of sports, especially cycling, using a plastic water bottle is probably best since you can access it with only one hand. Be sure to get a BPA free bottle though, as BPA can negatively affect your body.
