]]>The studies don’t lie: people who have better health—get better sleep and exercise more—are also happier. So as lame as it may sound if you’re not sleeping and exercising enough, try starting there. You might be surprised how much of an impact it makes.
Another thing you can do that will make a huge impact on your happiness is meditation. By teaching you to focus on the present moment instead of worrying about the future or obsessing over the past, meditation is a great tool for improving happiness.
One common fallacy we humans make is believing that we’ll be happy if we just obtain that thing we want: the job, the promotion, the partner, the salary, etc. But the truth is that as long as we’re always focused on getting the next thing, we’ll never be happy. What will really make us happy is being grateful for what we already have.

]]>It’s important to acknowledge your feelings and identify why you’re feeling them. Sometimes it’s easy to recognize why you’re feeling like an imposter if you give yourself a chance. Talking to a person you trust is also a good idea.
Once you’ve identified your feelings, it’s important to distinguish them from the facts. If you don’t do this, it’s easy to start believing the things you feel even though they may have nothing in common with reality.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed with self-doubt, take time to actively fight back. For every negative thought, come up with a positive one that proves you wrong. Remember those conscious thoughts and get back to them whenever you need some encouragement.

]]>If we reminded you to check your posture at any moment during the day, how many times would you have to fix it? Probably most of the time and you’re not alone. Not sitting with both your feet on the floor, with your back against the seat, and with your shoulders relaxed has become completely normal, but it may be what’s ruining your mental health and wellbeing.
According to research done by the British Chiropractic Association, more people are experiencing back and neck pain now compared to five years ago. With four out of five people in the UK having a desk job, it’s not difficult to make the connection. This is especially clear when you consider that many of those desk jobs are done from the sofa, dining table, or bed, where it’s virtually impossible to keep the right posture.
But what about mental health? A study found that “upright participants reported higher self-esteem, more arousal, better mood, and lower fear, compared to slumped participants.” That’s enough to make us watch our posture more!

]]>Have you heard of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs? Abraham Maslow was an American psychologist who created this theory of psychological health. According to him, your psychological health hand wellbeing is determined by fulfilling the groups of needs in priority.
The idea is that the lower parts of the pyramid need to be satisfied before you can move onto the next levels. For example, a person whose basic needs like food and water aren’t satisfied won’t think about esteem needs or self-actualization. 2020 has messed up many of our critical lower needs so it’s absolutely normal to feel shaken and insecure.
With everything that’s going on in the world right now, it’s understandable that your focus is back to some of the more basic needs. If you lost your job, you’re probably worrying about rent and food. If you’re isolated, your social needs aren’t met. Don’t be so hard on yourself and accept that this may not be the best time to strive for fulfillment and having the job of your dreams. Taking care of your basic needs should be a priority right now.

]]>As Amy Jane Griffiths, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist and Chapman University professor told Bustle, “we all crave the comfort and security that comes with traditions and predictability. They may relate to joyful experiences with friends and family and provide something to look forward to.” By this, she means things like holidays, going back to school, or other seasonal events.
Colder weather is biologically motivating people to seek warmth and comfort. The fall weather is a perfect balance between cold (but not too cold) and comfortable, especially after a long, hot summer.
This is, of course, not true for all people and largely depends on individual experiences. There are plenty of people who get seasonal affective disorder and experience depression over fall and winter. They don’t enjoy the fall holidays, because they remind them of something that bothers them.
What’s your opinion on fall? Are you among those who can’t wait for it to get or would you rather sleep through fall and winter and wake up to the warmth of spring?

]]>You may not even be aware that you have a bad habit. If you’re constantly telling yourself that you don’t spend that much time on social media daily or don’t drink too much soda, it’s time to start writing down your actions so you can know for sure. Simply start keeping track of the habit you don’t like without judging yourself and pretty soon you’ll be able to tell how bad it is.
There’s something that triggers every habit and you need to find the trigger for the specific bad habit. Do you always light a cigarette after a meal? Identify that as a trigger and find a replacement—for example, drink a glass of water after every meal.
It’s okay if you don’t succeed on your first try, just don’t spiral into more bad habits and completely give up. Allow yourself the opportunity to fail and start over as many times as needed. Every new day and every new hour is a new chance to do something good for yourself, but you need to give yourself permission first.

]]>If you believe that happiness is a limited thing that you can’t get plenty of, you constantly create situations to prove this to yourself. Your anxiety increases and you feel worried every time something nice happens because you believe that it should be balanced out with something bad.
When you constantly move on to next, bigger goals, you tend to forget about all the things you’ve already achieved. Always striving for more can make you feel bad and unaccomplished when in reality you have so much to be grateful for. Goals are good, just remember where you came from and how far you already got.
If you feel like people are constantly looking at you and judging you wherever you go, just remember that other people probably do the same thing! When everyone is busy thinking about themselves, nobody’s really paying close attention to other people and realizing this can be very liberating.

]]>Intuition is defined as the ability to know something without using conscious reasoning. You just know it without thinking about it when you learned it! People are born with intuition, but not everyone uses its maximum potential.
The more you learn, the better your intuition will be. It grows when you’re coming with rational arguments and thinking with your head instead of just believing something you’ve heard. Question everything and make your brain work hard on explaining why something is the way it is, and you’ll be able to make better decisions intuitively in the future.
The more we learn, work, and develop, the more we’ll understand the importance of intuition and let it into our lives.

]]>If you’re among people who always leave the important things for the last minute, you’re probably familiar with procrastination. But why do you do it? Is there something in this process of putting off the important work that can actually be seen as useful?
When you’ve reached the deadline, you don’t have time to overthink and overanalyze the work – you have to sit down and do it. That’s why we believe procrastination is good for practicing focus.
You know how you don’t think you’re going to have enough time to finish the project and somehow you manage to do it anyway? That’s because you become more efficient when you don’t have time to put things off anymore.
Perfectionism is one of those things that seems positive on the surface but can actually be paralyzing and prevent you from achieving something meaningful. If you spend a lot of your time procrastinating, you definitely won’t have time for focusing on perfectionism.
