]]>In a statement released on February 3, 2025, Garrett conveyed his appreciation for the Cleveland community and its fans but emphasized his aspiration to compete at the highest level.
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl – and that goal fuels me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns,” he wrote, according to The Guardian.
Garrett’s tenure with the Browns has been marked by individual excellence, including multiple Pro Bowl selections and setting the franchise record for career sacks. Despite his personal success, the team has struggled to achieve consistent postseason success, making only two playoff appearances during his eight seasons. The 2024 season was particularly challenging, with the Browns finishing with a 3-14 record, tying for the worst in the league.
The news of Garrett’s trade request has sent shockwaves through Cleveland, with fans expressing their frustration over the team’s inability to retain one of its best players, according to Cleveland 19 News. On Monday morning, a group of young Browns fans gathered outside the stadium to protest what they see as a failure by the organization to build a competitive team around Garrett.
“I thought, man, I really don’t want to go to class this morning,” said one fan Andrew Baughman. “This is terrible, terrible news. It’s like ripping away a part of myself and what’s so much worse about it, is it’s completely justified.”
Another fan, Aiden Crowley, echoed the sentiment, blaming the organization for not doing enough to keep Garrett. “We’re mad at the organization because it’s like you’re telling me you really can’t put a plan in place for this guy that wants to be here? He just wants to win, and the fact that he’s so confident that we have such a low chance of winning that he’s willing to leave—it’s frustrating.”
Analysts have speculated that Garrett’s trade request is influenced by the team’s ongoing struggles, particularly following the acquisition of quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2022. The Browns invested heavily in Watson, trading multiple draft picks and signing him to a $230 million fully guaranteed contract. However, Watson’s tenure has been marred by legal issues, injuries, and underwhelming performance on the field, contributing to the team’s lack of success.
ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the situation, stating, “I’m not surprised and I completely support Myles Garrett…He’s asking for this trade because he knows Cleveland struggles to find a quarterback. They’ve left it all on the shoulders of their defense….There doesn’t seem to be any relief or any help in sight and he wants to be in a winning situation,” according to Talk Sport.
Despite Garrett’s request, the Browns’ front office has indicated that they are not inclined to trade their star defensive end. A team spokesperson stated, “We aren’t entertaining trade offers for Myles,” according to Bleacher Report.
Garrett is currently under contract through the 2026 season, having signed a five-year, $125 million extension in 2020. His departure would represent a significant shift for the Browns’ defense and could signal broader changes within the organization.
As the situation develops, several teams are expected to express interest in acquiring Garrett, given his elite defensive capabilities and proven track record. Potential landing spots include teams with strong playoff aspirations seeking to bolster their defensive front.
Garrett’s request underscores the challenges faced by the Browns in building a competitive team and retaining top talent. The coming weeks will be pivotal in determining the future trajectory of both Garrett’s career and the Browns’ organizational strategy.

]]>Edelman, who turns 35 in a few months, recently made an appearance on Barstool Sports’ podcast “Pardon My Take” and confirmed he is still not ready to walk away from NFL.
“I don’t know, we’re not there yet,” said Edelman when asked retirement. “Right now, it’s a time … This whole year was so jacked up. It was so long, I just need to decompress for a little bit.”
Edelman didn’t give a definitive answer about whether he’ll play in 2021, but according to this, we will get to see the LIII Super Bowl MVP on the field for at least one more season.
One big reason why Julian Edelman is more likely to return is the way he ended 2020. He played only six games, his fewest as a pro while having just 21 catches for 315 receptions and zero touchdowns.
Also, New England is going through a transitional period and can’t afford to lose Edelman, who is both a leader in the locker room and someone they can rely on when he’s on the field.

]]>According to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, Marrone agreed to take over the offensive line coach position with Crimson Tide. He will replace Kyle Flood, who previously took the offensive coordinator job with the University of Texas.
While seeing Marrone at Alabama might be surprising to some, Zenitz points out that the position will enable him to work with some familiar faces. This includes O’Brien, as the duo previously spent four years together at Georgia Tech.
Doug Marrone was dismissed by the Jags after he finished the 2020 NFL season with a 1-15 record. He spent a total of four seasons in Jacksonville as a head coach, compiling a 23-43 record and leading the franchise to AFC Championship Game in 2017.
Marrone worked for a long time as a college coach, serving in various roles with Northeastern, Georgia, and Tennessee, among other programs. This included a head coaching position at Syracuse, where he lead Orange to a 25–25 record, and two Pinstripe Bowl wins between 2009 and 2012.

]]>Speaking with reporters on Wednesday about the Washington game, Evans said that he was motivated to be on the field by the fact that it was his first career postseason appearance.
“It meant a lot,” said Evans. “I haven’t been to the playoffs—it was my first time, the first game in the playoffs. I was excited to play.”
Despite the productive outing, Evans shared that he wasn’t 100 percent ready last week but hopes to be close to that for the divisional round matchup with New Orleans Saints.
“I’m feeling fresher,” he added. “Hopefully I can go into this game closer to 100 percent.”
2020 is shaping up to be a big season for Mike Evans. Not only he made his playoff debut and helped Bucs to the first postseason win since 2002, but he also became the first wide receiver in the history of the NFL to reach the 1,000 yards receiving in his first seven seasons in the league.
Evans had 70 receptions for 1,006 yards while adding career-high 13 touchdowns during the regular season.

]]>Rogers admitted that he broke the news a bit earlier than expected, considering that the Jeopardy! producers didn’t want to make the news official just yet.
“I just got so excited on the show earlier,” said Rodgers. “It just went down the last couple of days, us figuring it out. It is very exciting. It’s for the offseason.”
Aaron Rodgers previously appeared on Jeopardy! in 2015, when he took part in a celebrity episode of the show. Rodgers ended up as a winner, beating astronaut Mark Kelly and Shark Tank’s star Kevin O’Leary to take $50,000. The money was donated to Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer.
Rodgers explained that he has been a fan of the show for many years and is exciting to get behind the scene.
“We’ll be even more excited when that opportunity gets a little closer, but, man, the show has been so special to me over the years,” he added.
Before he turns his attention to Jeopardy!, Rodgers has a Super Bowl to win. His Green Bay Packers are among the favorites to go all the way this season and face their first playoff test on Saturday when they’ll host LA Rams.

]]>According to multiple reports, Pouncey is considering retirement and isn’t sure whether he’ll be back in 2021.
Ramon Foster, former Steeler and current NFL analyst with DK Pittsburgh Sports, reached out to Pouncey to check out the reports, and it turned out that there is some truth in them. According to Foster, there is a “50-50” chance Pouncey retires and he needs to consider a “number of factors” before making a decision.
The talk about Pouncey’s retirement was further fueled by the exchange between the 31-year-old player and Pittsburgh’s quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after the Browns’ loss.
As Foster points out in his piece on DK Pittsburgh Sports, Maurkice Pouncey’s decision might depend on the Steelers’ ability to compete. If Pouncey gets convinced that the team can challenge for the Super Bowl, one of the rare achievements he lacks in his storied career, he will be back. If not, then that will be the end of his NFL career.
Pouncey, Steelers’ No.18 pick in 2010, started 134 games in the past 10 seasons. He has nine Pro Bowl appearances and five All-Pro nods while also being selected into NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

]]>The Eagles finished 2020 with a disappointing 4-11-1 record, but Pederson, who guided the organization to its first Super Bowl in 2017, was initially expected to keep his job. Still, things changed after he had several meetings with owner Jeffrey Lurie in recent weeks.
According to multiple reports, Lurie was unconvinced with Pederson’s vision for the future and plans to handle multiple problems that plagued the team in 2020. This included the offense struggles, coaching staff, salary-cap issues, and the status of quarterback Carson Wentz.
“My first allegiance is, what will be best for the Philadelphia Eagles and our fans for the next three, four, five years,” Lurie explained reporters during a virtual conference. “It’s not based on does someone deserve to hold their job or deserve to get fired; that’s a different bar.”
Doug Pederson departs Philly after coaching the team for five seasons. He compiled a 42-37-1 record in the regular season while making the playoffs three times. Besides the Super Bowl win, the Eagles won their division twice under Pederson while also making the NFC Divisional game in 2018.
Pederson isn’t expected to be without a job for too long, as he immediately becomes a favorite for several openings. This includes the Houston Texans’ head coaching vacancy as well as the job with New York Jets.
Eagles, on the other hand, are expected to target several prominent candidates, including Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley.

]]>Several previous reports said that the Bears are not sold on Trubisky as the best solution on the QB position for the future and might choose to move in a different direction. This is even more likely after the 26-year-old player delivered an underwhelming performance against the Saints.
Trubisky, on the other hand, would like to stay in Chicago and give it another run next season.
“I think I can definitely see myself back here next year,” said Trubisky, who was Bears’ No.2 overall pick in 2017, when asked about his future after the Saints’ game. “Obviously, a lot of that is out of my control, but it feels like home, and it feels like we have unfinished business.”
The Bears showed that they don’t trust Mitch Trubisky last offseason when they decided not to pick up his fifth-year option and bring in veteran Nick Foles to compete with him for the starting position. Trubisky managed to win the job in training camp and opened the season with two wins, but even that wasn’t enough.
In Week 3, after a struggling first half against Falcons, Trubisky was benched for Foles, and it appeared that his time with the Bears is officially over.
In Week 12, however, Trubinsky got another chance to start following Foles’ injury and went on to redeem himself. In the next six games, he performed extremely well and helped the Bears finish the regular season strong and make the playoffs.
It remains to be seen whether this late run will be enough to convince Chicago that Trubisky deserves another chance or both sides will opt for a fresh start.

]]>According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Saints’All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas is expected to return to practice on Wednesday and should play against Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild-Card game this weekend.
Saints’ head coach Sean Payton was recently asked about Thomas’ status for the playoffs but didn’t offer many details on the matter.
“I know he’s been working at it,” said Payton. “But we’ll get a better feel this week how he’s progressing.”
Thomas suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 against Tampa Bay Buccaneers and missed the next six games as a result. The 27-year-old wideout returned in Week 9, but the injury continued to trouble him, causing the Saints to place him on Injured Reserve for their final three weeks of the regular season.
In seven games he played in 2020, Thomas had 40 receptions for 438 yards but failed to get a single touchdown catch.
While the Saints hardly missed a beat with Michael Thomas out, having him back on the field should make a big difference. Thomas has been productive under the spotlight in previous postseason appearances, totaling 53 catches for 493 yards and three TDs in five games.

]]>According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Kelly is set to have a tryout with reigning AFC Champions Buffalo Bills in the following days. The 26-year-old QB is reportedly a candidate for a reserve/future contract and might end up competing for a backup spot behind Josh Allen.
Kelly most recently spent time with Indianapolis Colts, splitting his time between the practice squad and active roster before being released in September.
After promising two years with Ole Miss, Chad Kelly entered the NFL as the last pick in the 2017 draft by Denver Broncos. Kelly missed his rookie season due to an injury but managed to bounce back next offseason and get the backup spot behind starter Case Keenum.
Kelly’s stint with the Broncos didn’t last much, however, as the team decided to release him early in the season due to problematic off-the-field behavior. He signed with the Colts ahead of the 2019 season.
Kelly played just one snap as a pro, kneeling in Week 6 of the 2018 season for a one-yard loss.
