As we go through the ups and downs of life, we’re often faced with all kinds of challenges. A great portion of those challenges often deal with the unknown—which can be scarier than many other things. Worrying about the future, and everything it details, is a common thing people do. And while it can be hard to stop, here’s why you should really try to put a stop to it.

It Doesn’t Change Anything

We, as humans, try to give ourselves the illusion of having control. Funnily enough, we do this most during periods when we’re so clearly without it. We may worry to protect ourselves from the worst possible outcome, but unfortunately this doesn’t change the outcome. Whether the outcome is positive of negative, us worrying about it isn’t going to change it. So why not just try and relax in the mean time?

Worrying is a State of Mind

Worrying is a state of mind that may not necessarily go away even if the outcome is positive. Our state of mind will be what it is regardless of external occurrences, unless of course we work hard to change it. Thus, don’t focus on outside stimuli to determine how you feel. Rather, decide it on your own, and work on yourself to attain that goal regardless of outside circumstances.

When it comes to career advice, there is a popular saying that you should “fake it till you make it”. For those of you who have never heard of this, faking it till you make it is the idea that even if you aren’t so confident about completing a task, sometimes the best thing to do is to just power through and do it anyway. The wisdom behind this idea is that eventually you’ll actually become more confident about the task—thus faking it till you make it. But is this a realistic thing in practice?

Yes and No

On one hand, yes, it’s incredibly realistic. The reason is that sometimes our fears have a lot to do with imposter syndrome, and fear of the unknown. So even when we think we’re not good at something, we’re actually a lot better than we realize—and thus faking it till we make it is really just forcing ourselves to do something and gain experience in it. Once we get more experience, we’re a lot more confident in our ability to complete a task.

However, on the other hand, it’s important to not get too ahead of ourselves with this idea. It’s important to also be realistic about our skills from a technical standpoint. This sometimes requires no small amount of intuition. You need to be able to know which situation is right to fake it and which situation you truly don’t have the necessary skills to move move forward.

As we become more independent adults in this modern world, we’re called upon to be more responsible about matters such as money. Some of us, however, are much better at dealing with this than others. Some people have a tough time living within their means—and there are actually deep-rooted psychological reasons for this.

How Your Personality Was Shaped

Just like all matters of life, how we conduct ourselves daily is very much influenced by how we were raised. Our personality was shaped and influenced in our formative years, and this actually currently impacts our spending habits—or lack thereof.

Turning the Tide

However, this isn’t intended to provide a dire outlook on your future financial endeavors. In fact, it’s merely meant to keep you aware of why you make certain decisions. It’s your life, and you can do whatever you want with it. But if you’re trying to make a change in your money habits and find it difficult to do so, it can be helpful to know where the problem is coming from.

For instance, if you often have trouble spending all the money you earn and not saving it, perhaps you should dig deeper and ask yourself why you like spending the money you do. This may be beyond your area of expertise—in some cases, a therapist can help—but simply making yourself aware of this fact is the first step towards making a responsible and real change in your financial life.

When talking to others, it’s not always easy to navigate what we’re allowed and what we’re not allowed to say. Learning to socialize with others is such an important aspect of growing up and being a member of society, and unfortunately it’s not as easy for some than it is for others to develop these traits. There are tons of things we can talk about, but for now, we’ll just talk about one thing: how to be a better listener.

Make People Feel Good When They’re Talking

When you tell someone a story, or something you learned, how would you feel if they just shrugged you off, or said something to the effect of, “Yeah I already know that.” You wouldn’t feel too great.

So when someone is telling you something that they clearly are passionate about, mirror their enthusiasm to make them feel good about themselves. Even if you don’t necessarily share the same interest, being a kind person is about supporting their passion regardless.

Accept That You Might Learn Something

As mentioned before, it’s not fun when someone tells us that they “already knew that”. But here’s the thing. Sometimes we might think we already know something, and maybe we do. But when someone tells you something, you need to be a little bit humble in that moment and recognize that even if you think you know everything that they’re saying—there might actually be something new they’re adding to the table.

Sometimes we might know about 80% of something that our peer is talking about, and because we want to save face, we say that “we already knew all that.” But we don’t. We knew part of it, and now we just gained an extra 20%.

We need to set our pride aside and be keenly conscious of the new information we’re learning, even if it’s something small. We need to make the conscious effort to tell our peer that they’ve introduced new information to us. This will not only make you more humble, but it’ll also make them feel a lot better than if you were to just say, “Yeah, I already knew that.”

Why life’s various problems hit us, they can sometimes seem almost impossible to overcome. That being said, there are certain methods you can try that may help shed light on a particular issue. For instance, one of the best things you can do to solve a problem is to look at it from a distance. Here’s why this is one of the most effective ways of fixing an issue.

You’re Actually Thinking Clearly

When we’re too close to something, we’re not thinking clearly. After hours, days, months, or even years of being unable to solve a particular matter, sometimes the reason is that we’re way too close to it. We’re so deeply entrenched in the problem that we’ve actually become the problem itself. Or, better put, we’ve mentally immersed ourselves into it.

Rejuvenation is Key

But when you take a proper step back, everything changes. Taking a step back can be done in a multitude of ways, depending on the specific problem at hand. But it basically requires you to feel like you’re taking a break from it all. You need to stop thinking about it, and do whatever you can to forget about it for a considerable period of time. Once you’ve finished your break, you can then come back with a rejuvenated mind, body, and soul—and you’ll be 100 times more equipped to solve the issue.

As we go through life, sometimes it seems as though everything we do is under a magnifying glass. It seems as though we’re being judged every step of our journey by everyone in our lives. But why does it feel this way, and is it actually accurate? Here’s why people aren’t actually focusing on us as much as we think, and how we need to get over it.

We Project Our Perspective Onto Others

We focus on ourselves in life because that’s all we can really do. We put ourselves under a magnifying glass because we experience the world through our own two eyes. The thing is, we end up projecting our feelings onto others, which is why we assume everyone else is focusing on us as much as we do. But as much as they love us—they’re just not.

Flip The Script

When you look upon loved ones in your life, do you give them the benefit of the doubt? Are you allowing them to live their life at a distance? Just like you see your loved ones, realize that it’s probably not so different from how they see you.

We judge ourselves harshly, and often let others off the hook for certain things—but we should be judging ourselves just as favorably. Forgiving ourselves is important, and a large component of finding happiness. Ultimately, the world doesn’t revolve around us, and that’s a good thing. We should enjoy being a part of the world, and not persecute ourselves for our imperfections.

We’ve all heard cliche sayings such as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, or “don’t judge a book by its cover, or another popular one, “beauty comes from within”. While these sayings are nice to hear, they can sometimes feel a little bit patronizing. However, we do believe there are some nuggets of truth to them, which is why in this article, our aim is to get a little bit cheesy and discuss why beauty truly does come from within.

Don’t Look Externally

Sure, there are things that can distract us externally. There’s the height, the body type, the nails, the makeup, the genes, the clothing, and even the type of job someone has. These things can distract us because modern society has deemed them to be things that are important. But do they really define beauty?

Our Expressions Are Contagious

Our inner soul, and our relationship with it, are such a big part of how we’re perceived by others. When you’re smiling outwardly at someone—and you truly mean that smile with every ounce of your being—believe us when we say that a person will feel that. They’ll feel your intense positive energy, and make no mistake, they’ll perceive it as beauty.

Are you struggling with keeping your house clean? We completely understand, especially if you have a large family of kids who simply won’t quit throwing their toys everywhere. You probably feel like you’re cleaning things up all the time. But if you feel yourself lagging in the cleanliness department, here’s a philosophical idea that may encourage you to turn over a new leaf: when your room is a mess, your mind is a mess.

We’re Influenced By Our Environment

We humans are funny creatures. We’re each unique in our own way, but we’re also very influenced by our surroundings. There’s something about having a messy room that certainly affects us in ways we don’t even realize—but on the flip side, we have the potential to change things. By keeping things organized and clean in our environment, it can have a mirroring effect on our minds as well.

It’s Therapeutic

In addition to the “mirroring” effect we just spoke of, there’s something quite satisfying about organizing something that was once chaotic. It can actually be very therapeutic to create organization from the chaos, and our mental health can even improve as a result. So if you’re looking to make a change in your life, maybe the first thing you should is clean your room!

This one goes out to those of us with two X chromosomes. According to lessiamac’s viral TikTok video, there’s a super simple trick you can try to reduce, or even eliminate entirely your menstrual cramps. It sounds too good to be true, but the comment section begs to differ! Numerous women have commented with tear emojis saying that it worked like magic.

@lessiamac Idk how, but it really works!! Try this!! #reducepain #periodpain #menstrualcramps #reduce #lifehacks #bestlifehack #forwomenonly ♬ Ultimate life hacks – Kelly – The Life Bath

So, how does it work?

The 15-seconds video simply shows a woman massaging a specific point in her ear with no other than the eraser-tip of a regular pencil. According to the video, you’re supposed to massage one ear for about a minute, then do the same in the other ear.

Don’t forget to try this next time you get period cramps.

Procrastination is often considered a bad thing that prevents you from doing everything you should be doing. People who procrastinate are called lazy, disorganized, or unmotivated, but that’s not always true. In fact, we have reasons to believe that procrastination might even be a good thing sometimes.

If you’re among people who always leave the important things for the last minute, you’re probably familiar with procrastination. But why do you do it? Is there something in this process of putting off the important work that can actually be seen as useful?

Focus

When you’ve reached the deadline, you don’t have time to overthink and overanalyze the work – you have to sit down and do it. That’s why we believe procrastination is good for practicing focus.

Efficiency

You know how you don’t think you’re going to have enough time to finish the project and somehow you manage to do it anyway? That’s because you become more efficient when you don’t have time to put things off anymore.

Fighting Perfectionism

Perfectionism is one of those things that seems positive on the surface but can actually be paralyzing and prevent you from achieving something meaningful. If you spend a lot of your time procrastinating, you definitely won’t have time for focusing on perfectionism.

If you’re a woman, it’s highly unlikely you’ve never experienced that horrible pain in your stomach that is one of the joyous treats of getting your period. The pain can be light and pass quickly if you’re lucky, and completely debilitating if you’re not. But here’s a life hack that is bound to spark your interest: it turns out that you might not need a ton of painkillers to make it go away!

According to lessiamac’s viral TikTok video, there’s a super simple trick you can try to reduce, or even eliminate entirely your menstrual cramps. It sounds too good to be true, but the comment section begs to differ! Numerous women have commented with tear emojis saying that it worked like magic.

@lessiamac Idk how, but it really works!! Try this!! #reducepain #periodpain #menstrualcramps #reduce #lifehacks #bestlifehack #forwomenonly ♬ Ultimate life hacks – Kelly – The Life Bath
