]]>Your little ones will quickly get bored of the DIY project that you’re working on if it’s not something they’re interested in. When picking a project, make sure to ask for their input because they’ll be more engaged if you’re making something they’ve chosen for themselves.
Even if you’re a DIY pro, that’s not necessarily the case with your kids, especially if they’re new to arts and crafts. When picking the projects that you’re going to work on together, stick to something simple so they could be fully involved in the process and feel a sense of accomplishment once the project is done.
One of the best things about working on DIY with your kids is that none of you has to do anything on your own. There are a lot of tiny tasks involved in each project, so you can assign them based on your skill level and personal affinities, making sure everyone is working on something they’re good at.

Launched in December 2012 with seven patterns, the Kiriki Press collection has grown over the years and is currently expanding to include a range of other DIY products. “I just wanted to come up with bright, little, not too intimidating designs so that people could approach it slowly and get into embroidery,” says Galletta. “I’m hoping to get people in my generation into embroidery.”
Her kits are screen printed by hand and assembled in Toronto at Noble Crafthouse. According to Galletta, the kits are essentially embroidery samplers, so you learn stitches as you go. Which means that your work doesn’t need to be perfect, but you’ll get lots of practice along the way.
In fact, it’s their handmade quality that makes her work all the more endearing. Take a look for yourself:

]]>“By making them do chores — taking out the garbage, doing their own laundry — they realize I have to do the work of life in order to be part of life,” author and former dean of freshmen at Stanford University Julie Lythcott-Haims told Tech Insider. Lychcott-Haims spoke about this at her TED Talk that you can see below. “If kids aren’t doing the dishes, it means someone else is doing that for them,” she said during the talk. “And so they’re absolved of not only the work, but of learning that work has to be done and that each one of us must contribute for the betterment of the whole.”
She stands behind her belief that children who grow up doing chores become more successful people with better work ethics in the future. It makes sense and it gives you an excuse to do something else after dinner as your kid does the dishes — it’s a true win-win.

These little buds are delicious in southern-style food, but when you cut them open, you will find they look much like a flower because of the seed structure! You can also use them with any type of paint!

A lotus root does much of the same effect as an okra bud, but since the lotus root is bigger, you will get bigger and more defined flower stamps!

]]>What do we mean by that? Get one colored tote bag per every room in your house. For example, blue for the bathroom, yellow, for the kitchen, red for your kid’s room, etc. Every day, go through the apartment with all the bags on your arm, pick up items as you go and drop them into their relevant bags. Rubber ducks go into the bathroom bag, cookie molds go into the kitchen bag, toys go into the kid’s room bag, and so on.
After everything is sorted, just return bags to their rooms and put the stuff away. And if you turn this into a little game, your kids will be happy to help you with it!
