What’s summer without grilling? It’s time to treat your family to a day in nature with a BBQ feast, but make sure you’re prepared for the trip with our best tips to make grilling easier than ever.

Clean the Grill with Tin Foil

It’s time to toss that old grill brush and replace it with ordinary tin foil. Take some foil and make a ball out of it. Then, secure it with a pair of tongs and use it to clean the dirt off of the cooking surface.

Keep Burgers Moist

You can keep the patties from drying out by placing small ice cubes on raw burgers. Let them cook that way so they retain moisture and stay perfect by the time you serve them.

Use Two Skewers

Using two skewers will give you more control over the meat and veggies as you flip them. Using only one skewer can lead to your food twirling around, but two skewers will ensure even cooking and perfect outcome.

Roast Bell Peppers

You can roast bell peppers directly over the heat. Let each side cook for a few minutes, transfer to a clean dish and let cool down. You’ll soon be able to remove the pepper skin and have a delicious side dish.

Is somebody up for grilling? This summer, it’s time to learn about the unusual foods you can grill and spice up your barbecue session. Aside from tested and proven dishes that you’re always cooking on the grill, consider adding these foods.

Watermelon

Surprise your friends with grilled watermelon that tastes even better than raw fruit! Make sure the pieces you’re going to grill are around an inch thick and grill for 2-3 minutes per side.

Spice a salad up with a grilled watermelon that you salted a bit. Everyone will love this simple trick!

Squash

Cut the squash in half, coat with olive oil lightly, sprinkle some salt and pepper, and grill over medium heat for five minutes per side. The pieces will be tender and turn into a perfect vegan dish.

Bread

You can easily grill bread slices to get smokey, delicious appetizers. If you add some oil (or butter) and garlic to each slice, regular bread turns into tasty slices no one can resist.

When you go to a cookout this summer and there are hot dogs, there’s a good chance you’re going to see one side: sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is a condiment that comes from Germany and literally means sour cabbage, which is exactly what it is. However, a lot of people don’t realize that sauerkraut isn’t pickled it’s fermented, which means it’s super good for you!

Sauerkraut has a ton of probiotics in it because of the fermentation process it undergoes. Unfortunately, the kind you buy in a jar from the supermarket contains little to no probiotics because it’s gone through a heating process that kills a lot of the bacteria. However, if you get the refrigerated type, that one will be flooded with all the gut-healthy probiotics. Although it’s definitely a little more expensive, it’s worth going for the refrigerated type because it tastes better and is way better for you.

Sauerkraut is the perfect addition to hot dogs, Reubens, and even tossed into salads to add an acidic component. So, even though this summer you might be having more hot dogs and burgers than usual, you can at least take solace in knowing you’re doing good for your gut by eating sauerkraut.

There’s nothing more summery than grilling some hamburgers, veggies, or really anything you can get your hands on and sharing it with friends. But, if you live in a city or just don’t have the money for a regular grill, don’t fret! You can still get all the benefits of grilling inside if you have one specific tool: a cast iron grill pan.

Cast iron is one of the most desirable kinds of pans in general because it maintains heat really well, sears meat perfectly, and can be transferred into the oven without worry. There are many different types of cast iron pans available, and one popular kind is a grill pan! The ridges of the grill mimic the effect an outdoor grill will give you to, but at a fraction of the cost and without fussing around with gas or charcoal.

Use a cast iron grill to sear steaks and burgers for meat lovers, or to make out of this world vegetarian dishes with vegetables as the main event. The great thing about grilling is that it imparts a lot of flavor as well as texture, so you can take a regular green like bok choy or fennel and make them into something seemingly more substantial.
