Just like you prep your nails before painting them, press-ons require some work prior to the application. Make sure you pull back your cuticles and dehydrate your nails with alcohol or nail polish remover before applying the press-ons.
Press-ons come with either double-sided tape or glue and which one you use depends on how long you want your nails to last. If you plan on changing up your nails frequently, double-sided tape will last you about a day. For looks that you want to stay longer, glue lasts up to two weeks.
You can’t expect to wash dishes and for your nails to last. If you’re washing dishes use gloves and try to avoid getting your nails wet. When possible, use hand sanitizer instead of water when washing your hands.

Most nail extensions are attached with glue or added at a beauty parlor. At home, sanitize your hands and disinfect your nail brush. Remove pre-existing nail polish and trim the edges of your natural nails.
After deciding which nail type to apply, pick the right size. The extensions can look really bad if they don’t match you. Trim the nails’ curves if they are slightly wider but ensure they fit your fingers appropriately.
