]]>With the influx of brands to choose from, ever-changing fashion trends, and the increase in sustainability awareness, it’s a good idea to learn how to sew your own clothing items. The best thing about learning to sew and create your own clothes is that you can do it for a fraction of the price you would pay at shops, online stores, or thrift stores.
To make it even better, every time you create clothing items, you create something specifically for your body. No more comparing how the dress fits compared to a friend or Instagram model. Instead, everything you create is made by you for you, which is an even better feeling.
Sure, you can draw inspiration from fashion shows and what you see on the racks in Zara. But you can add a touch of you to each piece, making them one of a kind. No more meeting up with friends wearing the same outfit or the same dress at a formal event. You will step out knowing no one else will be wearing what you have on.

]]>If you’ll be running, biking, or skating out in the hot sun, think about investing in sun-protective clothing. If you burn easily, try to cover as much skin as you can while still being comfortable (especially your shoulders and the back of your neck). Try to find quick-dry, breathable clothes to counteract sweating and keep you cool. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!
If you’re planning on a high-impact workout with running or jumping, you may want tighter clothing to help absorb the shock. But, be sure these clothes are also breathable to help with the heat.
There are many companies today that make leggings and sports bras specifically for plus-size bodies. Balancing tightness with breathability can be hard, so be sure to check reviews of items to find the best ones for your specific needs.

]]>This outfit is great if you want to look cute without your outfit screaming, “Hanukkah!” in the most obvious way. It’s got a nod to the holiday with the blue and white base, but in a very subtle, classic way, and the leopard print coat adds a fun pop of pattern.
On the other hand, if you’re tired of not getting to join in on the fun of ugly Christmas sweaters and kitschy holiday outfits, a funny Hanukkah sweater may just be the perfect choice for you!
If you live in a warmer climate, you can celebrate Hanukkah by throwing a cute blue-and-white flannel over your typical fall outfit, keeping you festive without overheating.
On the other hand, if your winters are so cold that your outfit is barely visible at all, you may prefer to show your Hanukkah spirit by wearing a blue coat.

]]>There’s a lot of different ways to do a clothing swap. You can get a group of your friends together to meet up for one swap session in which everybody brings clothes they don’t wear anymore and can take home up to as many items as they bring. Or you can do it digitally, starting a group chat where people can post photos of items they’re willing to give away, coordinating exchanges one-on-one with whoever is interested in a particular item.
However you decide to do your clothing swap, it’s a great way to refresh your wardrobe while being environmentally-friendly. Plus it has the benefit of encouraging you to clear your closet of anything you’re not showing much love to for somebody else to enjoy and get more use out of. Best of all, you can make a whole night of it with some music and wine and runway walks.
So who needs to even leave the house to go all the way to a thrift store after all?

]]>Clothing swaps are not only a fun social time to hang out, but they also save people money and they are very eco-friendly. Instead of going out and buying something new, reusing clothes makes sure that we don’t make more trash! If this sounds like something you want to host, here are some easy tips to get started.
Whether it is a group chat or a social media platform, create some sort of message or event so you can have all your information in one place. If you’re inviting a lot of people, be accommodating and suggest a few different date and times. That way the majority of people will be able to come and more clothes will get shared.
If you’re having a lot of people over, choose a space in your house and create stations for each person. You can section it off with tape so people can just simply come over and dig through the different clothes. Also, have a shoe section so the clothes don’t get dirty in the process.
