Back in the day, you had to get out of the house and pay money to gain access to cutting-edge art. Whether it was going to a book store and purchasing the latest comic book by your favorite illustrator or just visiting the museum—it was never something you could do from the comfort of your own sofa.

However, times have changed, and luckily you now have limitless, free-of-charge access to numerous artistic talents. All you need is WiFi and an Instagram account. Here are three cool and talented Insta illustrators you should totally check out.

Haleydrewthis

Haley’s bio says: “drawing through my feelings”—and that’s a perfect description of her work. Her super sweet illustrations, filled with gentle-yet-lively pastel colors, provide a genuine depiction of her emotional world and personal musings. From positive affirmations to anxiety confessions – her drawings are like an illustrated best friend.

Momowelch

If Haley is your loving bff, Mo must be that super-sarcastic one you go to when you need a shot of bitter truth. She is the proud author of How to Die Alone, after all, so she’s got a reputation to live up to. Mo talks about the darker sides of life, from bad dates to existential crisis; and she does it in the most graceful way ever.

Siberianlizard

This Insta profile is dedicated to the characters of two sweet ferrets named Meems and Feefs. Follow the Siberian Lizard Comics depicting these two mischievous creatures on their various day-to-day adventures, meeting different friends and discussing pressing (and less pressing) topics.

Although you probably haven’t heard of Juliet Johnstone yet, we expect to see more of the artist’s flower-power pieces soon. The artist is best known for her customized Carharrt pants, which were worn by Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid, and she’s now expanding her one-of-kind designs from painted pants to pullover fleeces.

Johnstone graduated from Parsons and she started experimenting by making wearable artwork. Her idea to create pullover fleeces came naturally to her as she’s been wearing them for a while, but was never able to find one that spoke to her.

The artist told Vogue UK that she was searching eBay for ’80s and ’90s fleeces in bold colors, but she could never come across one that fit her the right way. “The one issue for me was, the fit was never right. The women’s fleece was a tailored cut and was meant to hug the body, which I did not want. The small men’s fleece was a cooler and boxier fit, but it was too long and didn’t fit the shoulders.”

Like any great designer, she decided to solve this issue by creating her own and her painted fleece sweatshirts come with elastic and cord stoppers at the bottom so they can fit any gender.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CFfX-UGlVWS/

But when it comes to fashion, Johnstone doesn’t consider herself a fashion designer, rather she views herself as an artist. And her first collection mirrors this as she’s only creating the pieces after they are purchased so clothes aren’t wasted and the sweaters are only available for pre-order for a week. After that time, the design won’t be available.

Pre-order for the locally-made fleeces featuring tiger lilies ends October 30.

Berndnaut Smilde makes a special kind of art, so unique that his traditional sculpture only lasts a couple of seconds before it disappears in thin air.

Smilde makes his own clouds in a variety of indoor locations where you would never expect to see one, including coal mines, museums, and churches.

https://www.instagram.com/p/By0x29_IX9A/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

He uses water spritzer to create a mass of vapor in a space with no air circulation. Then, a professional smoke machine shoots a puff of faux fog into the wall of water vapor – creating a gorgeous cloud.

Although the clouds usually fall apart within seconds, they last long enough to snap beautiful photos of them. The artist once admitted that he often creates over 100 clouds just to get the perfect image.

To Smilde, these unique sculptures aren’t just clouds. ”I see them as temporary sculptures of almost nothing—the edge of materiality,” he once said in an interview. “It looks like you can dive into them or grab them, but they just fall apart. There’s a duality that I really like where you’re trying to achieve this ideal thing that then collapses just moments later.”

61-year-old British artist Simon Beck has found a gorgeous and creative way to use mother nature to produce breathtaking art.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7WNU3alwr9/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Beck started making designs in the snow in 2004. He was hanging out in a ski resort in France when he decided to go on a walk to create a geometric design in the snow “just for fun.” When he hopped on the ski lift the next day, he discovered how beautiful his creation looked from above.

“Snow drawing, which to me seems like a fairly obvious idea, was not something anyone else had ever done as far as I could tell, and I was really surprised by that,” he said in an interview.

The artist’s work sure is unique, but it isn’t always easy. Weather conditions heavily affect the end result of each piece. Even after hours of snow drawing, heavy winds can blow away the footprints and destroy the entire piece. But Beck doesn’t let the weather get in his way- quite literally.

With the help of other volunteer artists, Beck has created 330 snow drawings and even showed off his skills on the beach by creating 120 masterpieces in the sand.

Senga Nengudi is an African-American avant-garde artist who rose to fame in the artistic community in the 1960s. Her specialty is in combining visual art and sculptures with performance art, often using found objects as the tools for her pieces. She has been featured in some of the most influential museums and galleries in the US, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and more.

What makes Nengudi important as an artist is that she also ties in feminism and intersectionality into her work. Some of her most famous pieces have been made with pantyhose, which she has also used as a prop during her performance alongside those pieces. The significance of the pantyhose lies in the metaphor of them being the constraints of gender norms in society. Nengudi has performed many times alongside other performance artists but also has used the installations of pantyhose as her counterpart in the performance, tangling her body into the hose to further the message of the entrapment of women and her experience as a woman.

Although her pieces range back for more than 40 years, Senga Nengudi is still relevant today.
