]]>Look at what you already own and try to make every piece count. Are there things that have been sitting in the back of your closet for months that you forget you had? Are there shirts you don’t love that could be repurposed into something more likely to wear?
If once you go through your wardrobe you find there are still things you need to add try to find those things second-hand. Thrifting isn’t just sustainable, it’s unusually inexpensive and can be a fun afternoon activity.
Still, if there are things you can’t find thrifting you can still take care to keep sustainability in mind. We don’t often think of what our clothes are made of and how those materials affect our planet. So focus on looking for natural fabrics that limit pollution such as organic cotton, linen, wool, and silk.
When we talk about sustainability we can’t stop at environmental sustainability. We also need to consider human rights. When purchasing new pieces try and dig into where the company produces their products and if their workers are given a fair wage and safe working conditions.

Now it’s time to add in everything else. This can include fruits—both fresh and dried—nuts, honey, and a variety of different crackers. The goal here is to add color, dimension, and of course flavor.
Finally, it’s time to play the artist. You can play with hyper-organized layouts or something more organic. At this step it’s what makes looks good to your eye and makes you happy.

This is a quick and easy upcycle you can do with supplies you most likely already have at home. Mix acrylic paint with baking powder until you get a chalk consistency and then paint on to any vase, jar, or bowl you want to have a ceramic look.
We all have a drawer of postcards, knick-knacks, and art we don’t know what to do with. Take it all out and organize it into a statement gallery wall that captures your memories.
