Everyone wants to be great at cooking. It’s not only an impressive skill to have, but it’s also very practical and useful. However, some people are just not born with the inherent skills that make for a great cook. Nonetheless, you don’t have to be born with natural skill to be a great cook, you just need to remember these easy steps.

Heat

When you’re cooking, the heat really matters. There are times where you will need a higher flame, and sometimes you need a lower heat. For example, when you are searing meat, you need higher heat than when you are making something like scrambled eggs.

The Pan

What vessel you use to cook your food will also dictate how it tastes. If you want to get a char on a steak, don’t go for a non-stick pan, use a stainless steel or cast iron pan. If you are making a lot of pasta, make sure you use a big enough pot to hold it all.

The Steps

Whether you’re following a recipe or not, there are always steps to making a dish; hardly ever will you find that you put everything in at the same time. This is because everything has a different cooking time, so you need to make sure everything gets cooked properly.

You don’t have to be the craftiest or the most innovative person in order to succeed in DIY. You do have to have confidence, inspiration, and the right tools. Some DIY projects require big hefty tools that are useless to a beginner, so instead of investing your time and money into items that you might not end up using, buy these tools and you will actually accomplish your DIY goals!

Rotary Cutter

A rotary cutter is a great tool to have because of its circular blade which makes for cutting all types of materials easy. You can use it to make straight lines for paper and even difficult fabrics to work with. Just grab a ruler or a straightedge and you will have perfect lines every time.

Hot Glue Gun

A hot glue gun can be used for almost any project around your house, outside, or even for clothes. Hot glue is a great alternative for people that are not comfortable sewing because it adheres really well to most materials.

Sometimes, the can opener goes missing just when you need it most. But don’t worry, if you don’t want to go ask your neighbor to borrow theirs, there are plenty of ways to get a can opened without one. Make sure you are extra careful because some of these methods include sharp tools.

Rock

The safest way to get a can opened is by rubbing it against a rock. Just go back and forth until you see some liquid on the rock-that means the seal is thin enough to break. Simply slip a butter knife or spoon under and pry open the lid.

Chef’s Knife

Using the very bottom of a chef’s knife, create small holes all around the edge of the can. Once you’ve gone around the perimeter of the can, you can use a small tool or a butter knife to lift the lid.

Spoon

Some cans are thin enough that you can actually use a spoon on its own to open it. Dig the spoon into the can, making a small hole. Rub the tip of the spoon back and forth in the hold to create a wider opening. Continue doing that around the edge until the lid is released.
