There’s something incredibly satisfying about pampering yourself with natural, homemade skincare products. If you’re looking to add a touch of luxury to your self-care routine, a DIY homemade sugar scrub is the perfect solution. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delightful scrub that will leave your skin feeling smooth, rejuvenated, and glowing.

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

To get started, gather the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ cup of carrier oil (such as coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil)
  • Optional: a few drops of essential oil for fragrance (e.g., lavender, peppermint, or citrus)

Step 2: Mix the Sugar and Oil

In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and carrier oil of your choice. Mix well until the sugar is evenly coated with the oil. The consistency should be grainy but still hold together.

Step 3: Add Fragrance (Optional)

If desired, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture. This will not only infuse a delightful fragrance but also provide additional benefits for your skin. Stir well to distribute the fragrance throughout the scrub.

Step 4: Customize to Your Liking

Feel free to get creative and customize your sugar scrub. You can add a teaspoon of honey for its moisturizing properties, a splash of vanilla extract for a warm scent, or even incorporate natural ingredients like coffee grounds or lemon zest for an exfoliating boost. Experiment with different combinations to find your perfect formula.

Step 5: Store in an Airtight Container

Transfer your homemade sugar scrub into a clean, airtight container. Mason jars or recycled glass jars work well for this purpose. Label the container with the name and date of creation. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

We’re so close to the holiday season and with it comes amazing seasonal drinks, desserts, and cocktails. One thing these three things have in common is they’re loaded with sugar. If you’re trying to eat healthy during the holiday season, it can be overwhelming and hard to say no to sweets completely. But, you don’t have to! Here are some tips for cutting back sugar while still enjoying holiday treats.

Enjoy Small Treats

If you have a sweet tooth, you know how difficult it is to cut sugary foods from your diet. Instead, enjoy sweets in small doses. Go ahead and have a few squares of dark chocolate, a cup of hot chocolate, a sliver of cake, or a small cookie each day.

Swap Sweets for Fruit

Fruit is a great source of natural sugar that you can feel good about eating. With simple changes like replacing sugar with applesauce in baked goods or making “nice cream” instead of eating ice cream, you can enjoy sweet things while adding nutrients and fiber to your diet.

Sweeten Holiday Drinks with Spices

Instead of using sugar, sweeten your punch, cocktails, or coffee with cinnamon, vanilla, or mint.

Identify Your Triggers

Knowing what foods tempt you will help you be better prepared when they’re in front of you. If you are keeping sweets in your home, keep them in a place that’s out of sight or hard to reach.

Everyone struggles with cracked feet and lifeless skin. Just like you treat and pamper your face, the skin on your feet requires attention too. There are so many amazing DIY scrubs that will help you a lot, but this one is the best. The strawberry and sugar foot scrub will improve the circulation, while also making your skin feel like new.

Ingredients:

To make this foot scrub you will need 2 strawberries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon olive oil. These three ingredients are easy to find at any store, and you might even already have them at home. It is definitely one of the biggest benefits of the recipe,

How to Make it:

Grab a small bowl and put the strawberries in. Start mashing them and once you’re done add the sugar. Also, add the olive oil and start mixing everything together. When the mixture is ready, you can apply it on the feet with a massaging movement. Leave it on for around 20 minutes. Wash your feet when the time is up.

The biggest benefit of this strawberry and sugar foot scrub is that it prevents the skin and heels to crack. It also has anti-aging properties for the skin. It will only take you five minutes to make it.

Sugar is not just in cakes and cookies anymore. These days, companies are putting sugar in so many products it’s hard to keep track. Here is a list of foods to look out for if you’re avoiding sugar or trying to stay fit.

Canned Vegetables and Fruits

Some vegetables and most fruits naturally contain sugar. However, when they’re sent off to get canned, most times there is extra being sugar added to the solution inside the can. Canned food is a good alternative to people who cannot afford fresh produce, but it’s not worth the sugar high. Instead, buy frozen produce. It’s still cheaper than fresh but there is unlikely to be added sugar.

Ketchup

Although it’s odd to think about ketchup’s main ingredient after tomatoes are sugar, with a whopping 22g per 100g serving. For your next cookout, instead of reaching for the ketchup, grab a better alternative like mustard, hot sauce, or sriracha.

Granola

Although granola can often include healthy ingredients like rolled oats and nuts, however,  granola from the grocery store is usually full of sugar to make the product more appealing. Instead, make your own and you can be in control of what goes in it.
