If you love coffee, you’re probably familiar with caffeine headaches. We have all been there—run out of our favorite coffee beans and haven’t had a moment to get to Starbucks and that’s when the headache starts. Headaches occur when there is an increase in blood flow to the brain, which puts pressure on the nerves and leads to you feeling pain.

When it comes to caffeine, there is the right amount that can help you starve off a headache as caffeine naturally narrows your blood vessels and relieves the pressure. This is why most migraine medicine includes caffeine. On the other side, consuming too much caffeine can actually give you a headache, as your body gets used to a certain amount of caffeine each day and when you stop drinking as much the blood flow rushes back to the brain, causing a headache.

To get rid of headaches, firstly start drinking lots of water—caffeine tends to dehydrate you which makes a headache worse, so start your day drinking water instead of coffee.

These headaches might push you to go cold turkey on caffeine, but this is not the best option. Instead, start cutting back slowly. Give your body time to adjust to less and less caffeine per day and the headaches will go too. 200 milligrams of caffeine per day or less is the number you want to aim for.

Also, start using natural energy sources instead of relying on caffeine every day, by sleeping well, getting more sunlight, and doing yoga or meditation.

It’s summertime and traveling is on our minds. With itineraries set, accommodations booked, and excitement brimming, the one thing that is super important is staying hydrated during your trip.

Loyal Sidekick

This one may seem totally obvious, but carry a reusable water bottle with you. You can fill it up when you see water stations at the airport or train station, and can even set reminders on your phone to make sure you sip consistently.

Fancy Fruits

Do you get hangry? Same. Snacking is crucial when you’re out and about, so why not let them hydrate you as well? Cucumbers, watermelon, grapes, and oranges can all do wonders for your water intake

Spot the Enemy

Sizzling temperatures, long flights, and certain drinks can all lead to dehydration. Try to reduce your coffee consumption as caffeine is notorious for sapping hydration, and have a glass of water between every glass of wine or beer.

Outside In

When we’re not properly hydrated on the inside, we feel it on the outside too. Make sure that your moisturizer includes hyaluronic acid to keep your skin quenched (especially on the plane!) and carry a little face mist around for when you need a cooling spritz.

We’ve all heard it: you have to drink eight glasses of water a day in order to stay healthy and hydrated. But how big of a glass? And is that number really accurate? Can we revisit this rule of thumb and get a better idea of how much water we all actually need?

Well, first of all, there’s no hard and fast rule. How much water you have to consume on a daily basis will vary depending on your sex, diet, size, climate, and activity level, among other variables. The best guideline isn’t even the number of glasses you drink. Rather, it’s best to keep an eye on your output. That is, you’ll know you’re hydrated if your urine is clear to pale yellow. Any darker and you need to drink some more.

But if you are looking for a general guideline to help you figure out a daily water intake goal, here goes. If you’re an average-sized man living in a temperate climate, aim for 3.7 liters. If you’re a woman, 2.7 liters will do. That’s 15.5 and 11.5 cups respectfully. And none of these numbers are eight, so you can throw that suggestion out the window.

The best thing to do, though? Listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs.

Staying hydrated while running isn’t an easy task, but it’s extremely important—especially once temperatures start rising. Many runners struggle with this problem, and here’s a couple of steps you should take if you’re one of them.

Come Prepared

Hydrating before your run is crucial, but you shouldn’t go overboard right before heading out. It’s actually recommended to drink 16 to 24 ounces of water about an hour before going for a run.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBgCAkyhGwD/

Stop and Drink

The best way to quench your thirst while running is having a water bottle by your side, but bottle belts and hydration vests are also an option. It’s up to you to decide when you’re going to stop and re-hydrate, but it’s recommended to drink 6 to 8 ounces of fluid every 20 minutes.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_hHa_LALJH/

Know Where You’re Going

Some runners don’t enjoy carrying a water bottle with them, because it slows down their pace. If you feel the same way, make sure to plan your route ahead and have at least one or two water fountains along the way.

As cities are slowing down due to coronavirus pandemic, it’s more important than ever to keep your health in check and stay at home. Here are the three ways you can make yourself feel better during these hard times. Do remember though that the best way to stay safe these days is staying at home and following the governments’ instructions.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_lVx8I7iJ/

Stay Hydrated

It’s always important to drink enough water, but it gets even more important during a virus outbreak. The easiest way to do it is to start with a big glass of water first thing in the morning, drink another glass with each meal, and sip on some more throughout the day.

Healthy Eating

It’s so easy to mindlessly snack on everything you find in your pantry when you’re at home day after day but think of it as an opportunity to practice making easy and healthy meals that will keep you healthy and nourished.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_dOQtH2Vy/

Resting

It’s important to give yourself time to rest and relax. Getting enough sleep is absolutely crucial and so is relaxing your body and mind. Watching comedies, taking bubble baths, doing yoga, and taking random naps are all great ideas.

Even at 50 years old, J-Lo never stops glowing. Here are some of the secrets she revealed for flawless skin at any age.

Keeping Clean

Keeping her face clean is a major part of J-Lo’s skincare routine. “I always, always wash my face after a workout. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy,” she told Hello! She also never goes to sleep without removing all of her makeup.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsy2BJKA762/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Mindfulness

Rather than spending a fortune on luxury skincare products (she probably does that, too), Lopez is a firm believer in the power of mindfulness. “I definitely think beauty comes from within—you have to keep your mind, soul, body and spirit in sync,” she says. “I am youthful and timeless. I tell myself that every day, a few times a day.”

Stay Hydrated

Just like many other celebrities and skincare enthusiasts, Lopez claims that staying hydrated is the key to gorgeous looking skin. Water aids blood circulation in the entire body, including the face, making you not only feel good but look good as well.

Drinking eight glasses of water a day, as recommended, can sometimes be an impossible task during a busy workday. You should know though, that there are plenty of ways to stay hydrated, besides drinking water. These are foods that will hydrate you when you don’t have time (or desire) to drink water.

Soup

There is a pretty good reason why doctors recommend we eat more soup when we’re sick. This is one of the most hydrating fluids you can consume if you’re bored with drinking water.

Smoothies

If you want a tasty alternative to water, smoothies are a perfect choice. You can mix your favorite fruits and vegetables with milk or yogurt and make a perfect drink that’ll boost your energy and hydrate your body.

Vegetables

Eating salads on a daily basis is not only healthy, but it’s also great for hydrating, so make sure to include plenty of vegetables such as celery, tomatoes, lettuce, and carrots in your diet.

Fruit

Much like vegetables, fruit contains plenty of water and it’s great for giving you a hydrating boost. The best fruit for hydrating is watermelon, grapes, and grapefruit.

Everyone knows that as the temperature drops, the weather can definitely have effects on your body, especially your skin. What can exacerbate these cold conditions is by doing things like taking very hot showers which will actually dry out your skin, or even washing your face with water that is too hot. If you are guilty of any of these things or just have unusually dry skin in the winter, you can reverse your own doing with this natural DIY hydration mask.

Ingredients

For this mask, you will need half an avocado, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, as well as 1 teaspoon of aloe vera. The avocado has tons of fat and antioxidants which really help to moisturize your skin, and the olive oil and aloe vera have similar effects.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BpcImbXHSC-/?tagged=avocadomask

Instructions

  1. Scoop out the avocado and put it into a bowl or mortar and pestle. Then, mash the avocado completely so there are close to no chunks whatsoever and it is completely smooth. This is important as if it’s too chunky, it won’t adhere to the face.
  2. Combine it with the olive oil and aloe vera and mix well.
  3. Apply to your face and leave it on for 10 minutes and wash off.

If you love coffee, you’re probably familiar with caffeine headaches. We have all been there—run out of our favorite coffee beans and haven’t had a moment to get to Starbucks and that’s when the headache starts. As cities are slowing down due to coronavirus pandemic, it’s more important than ever to keep your health in check and stay at home. Here are the three ways you can make yourself feel better during these hard times. Do remember though that the best way to stay safe these days is staying at home and following the governments’ instructions.
