Being a freelancer comes with many perks, such as not having fixed work hours or being forced to work around coworkers you don’t like. Not having to commute also saves a ton of time.

But what about vacations? When you’re a freelancer, every day and hour you don’t work equals money not earned and that can put you under a lot of pressure.

Just like everyone else, you need vacations to rest and recharge, otherwise, you’ll burn out. Here’s how to build your vacation strategy and enjoy it guilt-free.

Let Your Clients Know

Communicate with each of your clients and let them know about the dates when you won’t be available. Do it in advance so they have time to set priorities and let you know what to do before your vacation and what can wait.

Find a Backup

It’s good to have someone reliable who can take on emergency projects that can’t wait for you to come back. You can do the same for that person when they take a break.

Finish Everything Before You Go

It’s not easy to relax if you go on a vacation with unfinished tasks waiting for you. Be realistic and do everything before you go, otherwise, you may end up crunched over a laptop when you should be on the beach.

If you, like many people in the world, identify as a digital nomad or use technology in order to make a living without having to be tied down to one place than you must visit these cities.

Being a digital nomad means you can spread your wings and fly around the world if you so desire, which can entail some pretty special experiences. If you are someone who is looking for the next adventure, but with the stability of a good place to work, visit these cities.

Valldemossa, Spain

Although you wouldn’t think of this small town on the island of Mallorca to be the most productive place to work, it’s just a short bus ride away from the capital Palma, and it is a smart city which means there is free wifi in most places.

Tel Aviv, Israel

Tel Aviv is one of the fastest growing cities for tech startups in the world, which means that people are constantly running around the city to do work in coffee shops, have meetings in parks, and the like. Tel Aviv is great because it has a ton of coffee shops, as well as free wifi in most places outside, as well as lounge chairs and tables in the major avenues!

Bali, Indonesia

Since the island’s first coworking space, Hubud, opened its doors in 2013, Bali has become a prime location for holidays that are combined with remote working.

Budapest, Hungary

This beautiful city retains a low cost of living, especially when compared to other cities in Western Europe. It also has everything you need as a working nomad – low costs, wi-fi and culture.
