]]>There’s a lot of different ways to do a clothing swap. You can get a group of your friends together to meet up for one swap session in which everybody brings clothes they don’t wear anymore and can take home up to as many items as they bring. Or you can do it digitally, starting a group chat where people can post photos of items they’re willing to give away, coordinating exchanges one-on-one with whoever is interested in a particular item.
However you decide to do your clothing swap, it’s a great way to refresh your wardrobe while being environmentally-friendly. Plus it has the benefit of encouraging you to clear your closet of anything you’re not showing much love to for somebody else to enjoy and get more use out of. Best of all, you can make a whole night of it with some music and wine and runway walks.
So who needs to even leave the house to go all the way to a thrift store after all?

]]>Clothing swaps are not only a fun social time to hang out, but they also save people money and they are very eco-friendly. Instead of going out and buying something new, reusing clothes makes sure that we don’t make more trash! If this sounds like something you want to host, here are some easy tips to get started.
Whether it is a group chat or a social media platform, create some sort of message or event so you can have all your information in one place. If you’re inviting a lot of people, be accommodating and suggest a few different date and times. That way the majority of people will be able to come and more clothes will get shared.
If you’re having a lot of people over, choose a space in your house and create stations for each person. You can section it off with tape so people can just simply come over and dig through the different clothes. Also, have a shoe section so the clothes don’t get dirty in the process.

]]>Buying clothes new all the time, unless they are made with sustainable fabrics can often lead to waste. As of 2016, 50% of Americans were still throwing away clothes in the garbage rather than donating them. Donating your clothes and buying second-hand makes sure that cycle ends.
There will always be one crazy trend that seems like it can only be accomplished with new clothing, but that is almost never the case. The fashion industry always recycles styles so why don’t you recycle the clothes to make it come full circle!
A great way to start off your journey into second-hand clothing is by organizing a clothing swap with your friends. Have everyone bring their old clothes together and have a free shopping spree! That way you will know where the clothes come from.
