]]>On one hand, yes, it’s incredibly realistic. The reason is that sometimes our fears have a lot to do with imposter syndrome, and fear of the unknown. So even when we think we’re not good at something, we’re actually a lot better than we realize—and thus faking it till we make it is really just forcing ourselves to do something and gain experience in it. Once we get more experience, we’re a lot more confident in our ability to complete a task.
However, on the other hand, it’s important to not get too ahead of ourselves with this idea. It’s important to also be realistic about our skills from a technical standpoint. This sometimes requires no small amount of intuition. You need to be able to know which situation is right to fake it and which situation you truly don’t have the necessary skills to move move forward.

]]>People rarely put emphasis on the importance of life quality when thinking about which job to apply to. This is also true with people who have been at the same company for years. Some employees talk about how they get paid well, but that they’re miserable going into work because of how they feel mistreated. The question is, why do they put up with it, and why should you?
The obvious response is that “you just have to pay your bills at the end of the day.” But while it is true that money is money, and a job is just a means to an end, it’s also true that you shouldn’t go through your life unhappy. If you’re being challenged at work in a way where you’re respected, that’s one thing. But if it’s clear that you’re under-appreciated and you feel like you’re in a toxic work environment—make sure you get out of that situation, because no salary is worth sacrificing your mental health.
