The local cuisine is quite meat and fish heavy and one of the most notable local dishes is waterzooi, which is a stew dish that can be made with either fish or chicken. Likewise, high quality chocolatiers can be found throughout the center, and there are multiple chocolate factories which give you an insight into the history and production process.
Belfry of Bruges
The Belfry is an incredible piece of architecture and overlooks the main square in Bruges. It plays a significant role in the film ‘In Bruges’, and you can walk up the bell tower and get great views of the surrounding area. On certain days, there is also an amazing musical performance known as a carillon concert, which is a series of bells in the tower that are synchronized to play different pieces of music.
Canal walks
Everywhere in Bruges is beautiful and you can simply follow a canal path and take in some stunning architecture and unique scenery. You can also find your way to a series of windmills via the canal paths, some of which are still operational.

]]>Michael Reynolds uses only natural or upcycled sustainable materials like tires, bottles, and more; mostly things people would think of as trash. Michael is able to take these materials and create homes and buildings from them that are not only made sustainably but are sustainable within themselves.
Michael calls what he does “biotecture”, because it’s not just architecture, it’s looking at the way we use resources and how that ultimately affects the planet. The way that Michael structures the buildings with mostly tires and actual earth, he, in turn, makes buildings that actually do not need to use energy to be heated and cooled. The combination of the tires and earth make for a self-regulating temperature system, which means that people can save not only on energy costs but are using energy in a completely sustainable way.
One of the biggest reasons why Michael is so passionate about using the materials he does is because they are items that can be found all over the world. This means that there is a possibility for the world to unite in this type of sustainable building, which gives hope to an otherwise bleak future.
