All-Star Tommy La Stella is reportedly off the market. According to NBCS’ Alex Pavlovic, La Stella agreed to deal with San Francisco Giants.

The 31-year-old infielder committed to a three-year deal that will become official once he undergoes a physical.

La Stella started the shortened 2020 MLB season with the Los Angeles Angels but ended up being traded to Oakland Athletics in August. He had a solid campaign overall, ending the year with a .281 batting average, five home runs, and 25 RBIs.

Bringing in La Stella could turn out to be a good move for the Giants, as he gives them versatility at positions of need. He also complements the rest of the team’s infield, considering that he bats with a left hand and the rest of the Giants’ infielders are right-hand batters.

Another thing that should get San Francisco fans excited about Tommy La Stella is his reliability. He has been consistent at-bats throughout his career and rarely strikes out. In 228 plate appearances in 2020, La Stella struck out only 12 times.

La Stella, who previously also played with Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, has a .274 batting average with 31 home runs and 163 RBIs. He has one All-Star appearance from 2019.

Despite recent talks about his retirement, it looks like New England Patriots’ wideout Julian Edelman believes there is still a lot of football left in him.

Edelman, who turns 35 in a few months, recently made an appearance on Barstool Sports’ podcast “Pardon My Take” and confirmed he is still not ready to walk away from NFL.

“I don’t know, we’re not there yet,” said Edelman when asked retirement. “Right now, it’s a time … This whole year was so jacked up. It was so long, I just need to decompress for a little bit.”

Edelman didn’t give a definitive answer about whether he’ll play in 2021, but according to this, we will get to see the LIII Super Bowl MVP on the field for at least one more season.

One big reason why Julian Edelman is more likely to return is the way he ended 2020. He played only six games, his fewest as a pro while having just 21 catches for 315 receptions and zero touchdowns.

Also, New England is going through a transitional period and can’t afford to lose Edelman, who is both a leader in the locker room and someone they can rely on when he’s on the field.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded forward Kevin Porter Jr., their first-round pick in 2019, to Houston Rockets, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski wrote on Twitter that the Cavs will receive a “future protected second-round pick” as part of the deal. Reportedly, the pick is protected to No.55, which makes it unlikely to convey.

In order to finalize the move, Houston waived Chris Clemons. Clemons, who is currently out with an ACL injury, played 33 games for the Rockets last season and averaged 4.9 points.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that Cleveland made the decision to part ways with Kevin Porter earlier this week. The USC product clashed with one Cavs’ official after re-joining the team following a lengthy absence, which, coupled with his previous problematic behavior, prompted the organization to move on.

The Rockets are hoping to have a better chance of helping Porter overcome off-the-field issues and have a successful NBA career. The 20-year-old is expected to work closely with assistant John Lucas, who has a history of helping troubled players bounce back and become a factor in the league.

Porter averaged 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season with the Cavs. He hasn’t played a single game in 2020/21.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the latest team that could take a gamble on former Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Steelers hosted Haskins for a visit on Thursday as they consider signing the 23-year-old player. The Ohio State product recently also had a meeting with Carolina Panthers, but the two sides couldn’t agree.

Dwayne Haskins has been a free agent since December 28th, when Washington made the decision to release him. The move came after Haskins was involved in a series of off-the-field issues while also failing to produce on the field.

Haskins, who was the No.15 pick in 2019, played 16 games in NFL while throwing for 2,804 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

Despite all the red flags about Haskins, he showed enough flashes of talent to entice the teams and earn himself another shot in the NFL. While starting job is most likely out of question for him, he could land a backup role and start from there.

Signing with Steelers would make sense for Haskins for multiple reasons.  He would become a part of the well-run and no-nonsense organization, which could possibly help him cut the distractions and focus on football.

He would also have a clear path to start at some point since Pittsburgh’s current starter Ben Roethlisberger is nearing retirement.

It remains to be seen where Haskins gets his fresh start and whether he’ll make the most out of the opportunity in his second try.

It appears that Nick Saban doesn’t mind offering a sanctuary to fired NFL head coaches. After recently hiring former Bill O’Brien as his new offensive coordinator, Saban is now reportedly bringing ex-Jacksonville Jaguars HC Doug Marrone on board as well.

According to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, Marrone agreed to take over the offensive line coach position with Crimson Tide. He will replace Kyle Flood, who previously took the offensive coordinator job with the University of Texas.

While seeing Marrone at Alabama might be surprising to some, Zenitz points out that the position will enable him to work with some familiar faces. This includes O’Brien, as the duo previously spent four years together at Georgia Tech.

Doug Marrone was dismissed by the Jags after he finished the 2020 NFL season with a 1-15 record. He spent a total of four seasons in Jacksonville as a head coach, compiling a 23-43 record and leading the franchise to AFC Championship Game in 2017.

Marrone worked for a long time as a college coach, serving in various roles with Northeastern, Georgia, and Tennessee, among other programs. This included a head coaching position at Syracuse, where he lead Orange to a 25–25 record, and two Pinstripe Bowl wins between 2009 and 2012.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New Orleans Saints’ star wideout Michael Thomas is set to have multiple ankle surgeries during the offseason to address a nagging ankle injury.

Schefter reports that Thomas is expected to be ready for action in time for Saints’ summer organized team activities.

Thomas injured his ankle in Week 1 and went on to miss seven games while recovering. He also dealt with a hamstring injury during his time off the field.

The 27-year-old Pro Bowler returned in Week 9 but reportedly wasn’t 100 percent even then. He often missed practices to preserve himself for game days and was taking pain medications.

It looked like Michael Thomas was doing better in the playoffs, delivering five catches for 73 yards and a TD in the wild-card win over Chicago Bears. However, he struggled in the divisional round against Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following week, failing to have a single catch on four targets.

Thomas missed a total of nine games during the regular season, managing to have 40 catches for 438 yards and zero touchdowns. In 2019, he set the NFL record with 149 receptions while having career-high 1,725 receiving yards.

Brooklyn Nets could soon have their superstar trio on the court after Kyrie Irving rejoined his teammates on Tuesday. Irving previously spent two weeks away from the team due to “personal reasons.”

Irving had his first practice on Tuesday, and there is a good possibility that he will play in tonight’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He spoke with the media after but didn’t offer much detail about his absence.

“I’m back, I’m happy to be back,” said Irving.”And we got some great pieces, and we just move on, and I let my actions and my game speak for itself like I planned on doing. Just needed a pause.”

Kyrie Irving initially missed five games while being away from the team. He returned late last week but ended up missing two more games while working on his conditioning.

Nets hardly missed a beat with Irving out, going 5-2 in the last seven games. This was especially the case in the last two games in which new arrival James Harden and superstar Kevin Durant dominated.

Still, Brooklyn is expected to be a lot scarier with Irving as the 28-year-old point guard had a productive start of 2020/21. He averaged 27.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game when playing this season.

With solid performances in the shortened 2020 MLB season, lefty pitcher Martin Perez earned himself a new deal with the Boston Red Sox.

According to multiple reports, Perez agreed to a one-year contract with the Red Sox that will pay him up to $5 million in 2021. The deal also has a team option for 2022 worth $6 million.

Perez confirmed the news on Sunday on his social media.

In 2020, Perez started 12 games for the Red Sox and managed to compile a 3–5 record. He had 4.50 ERA and 46 strikeouts, while also his 4.1 walks per nine innings pitched led the AL.

By bringing back Perez, Red Sox add a reliable arm to their rotation that struggled with injuries in 2020. This, however, doesn’t exclude them from making more additions as they have been linked with moves for free agents like Garrett Richards and Jake Odorizzi.

Martin Perez played most of his MLB career with the Texas Rangers, where he made 128 starts in seven years. He also spent one year with Minnesota Twins before landing in Boston.

Perez’s career stats include a 56-61 record, 4.71 ERA, and 643 strikeouts.

After an ugly knee hyperextension in Week 17, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Mike Evans managed to make a swift return to the field. Not only that, but the 27-year-old wideout also put up an electric performance in a wild-card win against Washington that saw him get 119 yards on just six catches.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday about the Washington game, Evans said that he was motivated to be on the field by the fact that it was his first career postseason appearance.

“It meant a lot,” said Evans. “I haven’t been to the playoffs—it was my first time, the first game in the playoffs. I was excited to play.”

Despite the productive outing, Evans shared that he wasn’t 100 percent ready last week but hopes to be close to that for the divisional round matchup with New Orleans Saints.

“I’m feeling fresher,” he added. “Hopefully I can go into this game closer to 100 percent.”

2020 is shaping up to be a big season for Mike Evans. Not only he made his playoff debut and helped Bucs to the first postseason win since 2002, but he also became the first wide receiver in the history of the NFL to reach the 1,000 yards receiving in his first seven seasons in the league.

Evans had 70 receptions for 1,006 yards while adding career-high 13 touchdowns during the regular season.
