Until Now. Whilst seeming super simple, making a Moscow Mule surprisingly takes a lot of ingredient care and attention – leaving many simply average! But don’t fear, here’s how to create the perfect Moscow Mule from the comfort of your own home.
Many people assume ginger beer and ginger ale are the same. After all, they both say “ginger,” right?
Wrong. If you’ve only got ginger ale in the house, a lot of people simply settle for this instead of heading out and getting the ginger beer instead – but this can completely alter the taste of your Moscow Mule.
Ginger beer is far spicier, resulting in a perfect Moscow Mule with an impressive kick. Cock’n Bull and Fever Tree ginger beers are a great option.

Use crushed ice over cubes. Crushed ice keeps drinks far cooler, and will prevent your Moscow Mule from going flat.
And, instead of the typical lime wedge garnish, opt for a lime wheel slice instead. The temptation to squeeze a lime wedge is often too much for some, and this is guaranteed to alter the taste.
Simply squeeze once into the drink yourself, then garnish with an un-squeezable wheel!

Choose a vodka you won’t wince at when drinking straight – it’s that simple. Quality vodka will make or break a Moscow Mule. Just because vodka is considered a “neutrally-tasting” spirit, this doesn’t mean it’s not important!
And there you have it. Some quick and easy tips you can use to transform your very own Moscow Mule from average to perfect every time.
