Lai joined TikTok just for fun. “I signed up for TikTok in January just because I was bored,” she told Fashionista. “I was like, ‘I need a place to hang out.’ So I started posting old videos and blew up pretty immediately.” 

Pretty soon she had hundreds of thousands of people following her work and all she wanted was to stay honest with them. “Now I have all PR products I don’t have to pay for,” she says. “So it’s not right for me to sit here and tell people you need 12 steps to get nice skin when I get it for free, you know?”
