Christmas tree trends change every year, and 2020 gave us one of our favorites so far. Succulent Christmas trees are experiencing a huge boom right now and you don’t have to spend a fortune on Etsy to welcome one into your home.

The emergence of this trend makes a lot of sense because many people discovered their passion for gardening this year, but they aren’t exactly a new thing. Succulent trees and other similar decorations have been around for some time, and YouTube is filled with tutorials you can check out if you’re trying to make one at home.

We rounded up some of the best tutorials on this platform, shared by YouTube channels eHow, Succulents Box, and UrbanDirtTV. There are some variations to their DIY methods, but they mostly use the same materials, including succulent clippings, sphagnum moss, wire, and floral greening pins.

Gloves, a wire cutter, and a bit of creativity are all you need to make a perfect succulent tree. After cutting the wire and using it to form a cone, you’ll fill it with moist sphagnum moss, place it inside a pot, and decorate it with succulent clippings and additional ornaments of your liking, using greening pins to secure them.
