]]>Green Bay came out swinging, scoring 14 unanswered points in the first quarter. Quarterback Jordan Love connected with Romeo Doubs for an early touchdown, followed by Josh Jacobs punching in a rushing touchdown on the Packers’ next possession. Kicker Brandon McManus was on top form, adding three field goals to give the Packers a commanding 20-3 lead at halftime. Love finished the game with 229 passing yards and two touchdowns, solidifying his role as a key contributor in Green Bay’s offensive resurgence.
Seattle’s offensive efforts were derailed when quarterback Geno Smith exited the game in the second quarter due to a knee injury. Backup quarterback Drew Lock stepped in but struggled to find a rhythm against a relentless Packers defense. Running back Zach Charbonnet provided one of the lone bright spots for the Seahawks, breaking loose for a 24-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. However, turnovers and limited opportunities in the red zone hampered Seattle’s ability to mount a comeback.
The Packers’ defense played a pivotal role in the win, applying consistent pressure and forcing critical turnovers. Linebacker Kingsley Enagbare led the charge, registering a sack and several pressures, while the secondary capitalized on Seattle’s miscues to keep the Seahawks’ scoring to a minimum. Meanwhile, Seattle’s defense, led by linebacker Bobby Wagner, couldn’t contain Green Bay’s balanced offensive attack.
The Packers (8-7) now hold a stronger position in the NFC playoff race, with matchups against the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings remaining. The Seahawks (7-8) face a more precarious path, needing wins in their final games and outside help to stay in the postseason hunt. All eyes will also be on Geno Smith’s recovery, as the Seahawks’ offense hinges on his availability for the crucial stretch ahead.
Following the game, head coach Mike Macdonald addressed Geno Smith’s knee injury, and emphasized the team is still determining its severity: “It was a knee for Geno. I can tell you this, this guy is probably the toughest player I’ve ever been around,” Macdonald said during the postgame press conference. “It was severe enough for him not to come back in the game. We’ll do all our tests tomorrow and figure it out as we go. But right now, structurally, it looks like it’s OK. But we’ll get it imaged and all that stuff” (NBC Sports).
This game highlighted the Packers’ growing confidence and the challenges the Seahawks must address as the regular season nears its conclusion.

]]>Olsen ended on the injured reserve list with plantar fascia rupture in late November, with the initial prognosis saying that he’ll end up missing four to six weeks of action. Many believed that the rehab process might take even longer and that the 35-year-old veteran has little chance of returning in 2020.
But according to Carroll, Olsen is already in good shape and wants to join his teammates.
“He’s challenging right now to practice this week,” Carroll told reporters earlier this week. “And so we’ll see what that means. He’s very, very positive and upbeat about the fact that he has a chance to get back here very soon, maybe this week or next week.”
Despite Olsen’s plea, Seattle will probably take the cautious route and keep him on the sidelines until at least next week. They currently have a solid TE corps headlined by Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister, so there is no need to rush Olsen back.
Greg Olsen joined the Seahawks during the offseason after previously playing for Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers. He played 10 games so far in 2020 and has 23 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown.

]]>Seahawks acquired Dunlap last month by sending 2021 seventh-rounder and center B.J. Finney to Cincinnati. But because of their tight salary cap and the 31-year-old player’s $7.8 million base salary, Seattle had to get his contract reworked.
ESPN’s Field Yates reports that Dunlap agreed to new terms that will see him earn around $2.6 million less than he was set to earn for the remainder of the season. The two-time Pro Bowler was originally owed $4.6 million for the rest of 2020 but will now receive only $2 million.
However, if Seattle keeps Dunlap for the next season, he’ll be set to receive a $3 million roster bonus in March.
“I wanted to go where I could contribute to winning,” Dunlap explained his decision via ESPN. “That way I could get the full experience and earn my keep. So I put my money where my mouth is.”
Carlos Dunlap is expected to aid Seahawks’ pass rush that struggled to get to the quarterback this season. He has 81.5 sacks, and 227 quarterback hits since entering the league in 2010.

]]>Willson hasn’t been used much by Seattle this season, spending only 10 snaps on the field and failing to receive a single target. With Seahawks already having Greg Olsen, Will Dissly, and Jacob Hollister as their main options, alongside rookie Colby Parkinson, the 30-year-old veteran became an odd-man-out.
Considering Willson is a fan favorite in Seattle, it shouldn’t be surprising if he finds his way back to the Seahawks at some point this season as a practice squad addition. This is, of course, if he doesn’t land a job elsewhere.
Luke Willson started his NFL journey with the Seahawks after being selected in the fifth round of the 2013 draft. He was part of the Super Bowl XLVIII-winning squad and went on to play for five years in Seattle before embarking on stints with Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders. He returned to the Seahawks in 2019.
Willson has 110 career receptions for 1,295 yards and 11 touchdowns.

]]>According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Brown attracted interest from multiple teams in recent weeks, with Seattle Seahawks expected to be the favorites to land the seven-time Pro Bowler.
The reason why Seahawks might have an edge compared to other teams is the player’s familiarity with quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Geno Smith. Brown is a close personal friend with both of them, while all three players worked out together on multiple occasions over the summer.
When asked about the possibility of bringing in Brown, Seattle’s head coach Pete Carroll didn’t want to get into details, although he said that the team is always looking for ways to improve.
“We’ll see what happens as we go forward, but we’re tuned into what’s happening there,” said Carroll.
Brown still hasn’t engaged in contract negotiations with Seahawks or any other team, but interested parties already contacted his representatives for exploratory talks.
Brown last played in NFL in Week 2 of the 2019 season with New England Patriots. He was released by Pats several days later and has been out of the league since.
