It’s so easy to start doing other stuff during work hours and thinking that you’ll make up for it in the evening, only to lose yourself completely within a few days or weeks. When you’re working from home, nobody can see if you’ve spent your work hours productively or not, so many of us tend to do “just a little bit more” to prove that we’re not slacking off.
But working from the moment you wake up until you have to go to bed in the evening is not good for anything—not your productivity and not your physical and mental health.
Make sure to take regular breaks to stop stress from accumulating, especially if you have a long workday in front of you. Having a daily routine can also help a lot. This can be something you do before you start the work and after you finish for the day so there’s some kind of boundary between personal and private time. For example, you can start by making yourself a drink and finish by cleaning up your desk.
