When New York Giants took quarterback Daniel Jones with the No.6 overall pick in last year’s draft, the organization believed they set themselves on the position for the foreseeable future. But things don’t look great a season and a half into Jones’ tenure under center at MetLife Stadium.

Jones had another poor performance against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, throwing two interceptions in the second half and missing open receivers on multiple occasions. This directly contributed to Giants’ 25-23 loss in what seemed to be a very winnable game.

The first few drives that Jones put together seemed promising, and Giants looked like they were in a driving seat at the end of the first half with a 6-14 lead. However, the 23-year-old Duke product crumbled under pressure in the second half, making bad decisions that helped Tampa Bay turn around the game.

Buccaneers capitalized on Jones and Giants’ mistakes in the fourth, scoring a TD and a field goal early on to put themselves in a great position to win regardless of what their opponents end up doing.

The Giants got close to forcing overtime when Jones found Golden Tate in the endzone with less than 30 seconds left on the clock. Still, they failed to convert on a 2-point attempt and had to walk away with another crushing loss.

Daniel Jones finished the contest by completing 61.0 percent of his passes and throwing for 256 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. With these latest two interceptions, Jones now has 21 in 20 career starts to go with 15 fumbles that were recovered by the opposing team.

Jones now only trails famous Chargers’ bust Ryan Leaf, who had 41 turnovers in his first 20 games. Still, for better or for worse, the Giants believe they still have their QB of the future in him.

“Daniel is our quarterback, clearly put,” said Giants’ head coach Joe Judge after the game. “He made a lot of big plays in our last drive. I like the way Daniel’s fighting right now.”

A Dallas Cowboys team that was having a nightmare season saw its worse fears realized when in the third quarter, quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome ankle injury at their Sunday night game against the New York Giants.

With the game tied at 23 in the third quarter, the Dallas Cowboys dialed up a designed quarterback draw. Prescott broke through one tackle attempt and then tried to stiff-arm New York Giants defensive back Logan Ryan. As Ryan dragged Prescott down, the quarterback’s ankle got stuck underneath Ryan. Often, we see players suffer high ankle sprains when their ankles get caught at that sort of angle, but when Prescott came out of the tackle, his ankle was facing the wrong direction.

Prescott left the field with his right leg in a temporary cast, on a stretcher, and in tears. He was rushed to the hospital and was found to have suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle that needed immediate surgery.

It is estimated that Prescott won’t return to the football field for around four to six months.

“I know this young man very well,” Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said in a statement. “I know the personal hardship and strife that he has faced, dealt with and overcome in his young life. And I know of no one who is more prepared, from the perspective of mental and emotional toughness and determination, than Dak Prescott to respond and recover from this challenge that has been put in front of him.”

For only the seventh time in eight years, the New York Giants have started off their season with two losses. But, the bad news continues—they’ve lost their best player to a season-ending injury.

In Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears, during the second quarter, star RB Saquon Barkley fell to the ground in pain and had to be carried off the field by the training staff. According to early reports, the player tore his ACL and won’t be coming back to finish the season.

Barkley was drafted as a No. 2 pick in 2018 and Giants general manager David Gettleman has already been under fire for not being able to put together a winning team since being hired in December 2017.

Since Gettleman was hired, the Giants have won nine games and loss 25 games.

The Giants have an all-new coaching staff this year including new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who helped turn the Dallas Cowboys into a rushing team before he was fired as head coach. Garrett planned on using Barkley as a safety net for second-year quarterback Daniel Jones.

The Giants are now left with only two running backs—Dion Lewis, a third-down back who is close to 30, and Wayne Gallman, who has only managed to run the ball 80 times over the last two seasons.
