Austin Reaves also stepped up, scoring 19 points and adding eight assists. The Lakers had a dominant performance, holding the Grizzlies—who entered the game with the league’s highest-scoring offense—under their average, limiting them to just 110 points.
For Memphis, Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way with 25 points, while Ja Morant added 20. Despite a strong effort from their stars, the Grizzlies couldn’t recover from a 64-46 halftime deficit and fell short in the second half.
The win helped the Lakers rebound from a tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves just days earlier. After the game, Davis downplayed his shoulder injury, calling it “just a little stinger” and saying he was confident about his recovery, according to Sports Illustrated. Lakers head coach JJ Redick confirmed that Davis’s return was a positive sign for the team.
Davis’s stellar play continued a recent trend, as he has now recorded at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in three of his last four games. The victory lifted the Lakers to a 14-12 record, keeping them ahead of the Sacramento Kings in the standings.
As a centerpiece of the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis has consistently delivered strong performances, particularly in scoring and rebounding. Despite his injury struggles, Davis remains a dominant force on both ends of the floor, often carrying the team during crucial stretches. His ability to impact the game in multiple areas solidifies his place among the league’s elite talents.
Up next, the Lakers will face their division rivals, the Sacramento Kings, on Thursday, December 19. The Kings, who are closely trailing the Lakers in the standings, present a challenging test as the Lakers look to build on their strong performance.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, will look to bounce back as they host the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, December 19.

]]>The trade will see Portland acquiring Kanter while sending Mario Hezonja to the Grizzlies. Memphis will also get TCU’s guard Desmond Bane, No.30 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, from Boston as part of the deal.
Celtics, on the other hand, is set to receive “future draft compensation” from Memphis.
It didn’t take long for Kanter to react on the deal, writing: “Home, sweet home.” on social media.
Enes Kanter originally joined the Trail Blazers in February 2019, after he was released by the New York Knicks. He ended up playing a significant role for Portland in 2018/19, stepping in for injured Jusuf Nurkic and helping the team to a Western Conference Finals appearance.
Kanter hit the free agency in the summer of 2019 and agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Celtics. In 58 regular-season games in Boston, he averaged 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Mario Hezonja was Orlando Magic’s No.5 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft but never managed to live up to the expectations that were set for him. He will now try to rebuild his career with the young and talented Grizzlies and hopefully bounce back from a tough campaign in 2019/20 that saw him average just 4.3 points per game.
