He was initially listed questionable to return before being ruled out before the start of the second half.

Speaking with reporters after the game, the Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden told the reports that the team doesn’t believe Carr suffered a tear of any kind but that the injury is still “pretty significant.”

“I don’t believe it’s a real tear, but obviously if he can’t finish the game it’s got to be pretty significant,” said Gruden.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the injury might sideline Carr for the remainder of the season considering that the Raiders have only two games left to be played.

Derek Carr has been enjoying a solid campaign with the Raiders in 2020, completing 68.1 percent of his passes and throwing for 3,396 yards and 24 touchdowns. Carr also has only seven interceptions this season while boosting a career-best quarterback rating of 102.0.

Irving last played in NFL in 2018, making two appearances with Dallas Cowboys. Since then, he served multiple suspensions for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy while also briefly retiring from professional football.

Irving is expected to first join the Raiders’ practice squad and be promoted to the active roster once he gets in game shape.

Shortly after Irving’s reinstatement, multiple teams showed interest in signing him. The Raiders, however, were the fastest to bring the 27-year-old Irving for a visit and have now secured his signature.

It is believed that the big role in Irving’s decision was played by Raiders’ defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, considering the pair worked closely together in Dallas.

David Irving entered the league in 2015 as Kansas City Chiefs’ free-agent signing but was snapped by Dallas Cowboys before making his pro debut. Irving went on to play 37 games in the NFL in Cowboys’ jersey, totaling 56 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 30 QB hits.
