Kim Kardashian posted a photo of herself on Instagram stories rocking her new hair color. In one of the clips, she says: “Khloé and Kylie thought they were gonna beat me to this hair color, but I got ‘em.”

“The key to achieving this color is to have lots of your natural base color showing through, so ask your stylist for a consultation”, Siobhan Jones, Colour Ambassador at Headmasters said via Glamour. “They can recommend the tones that suit your eye and skin tone while looking at the natural depth of your brunette or dark blonde.

“By incorporating subtle shimmers of a lighter shade they will enhance your features as well as the movement and texture, making sure the most complementary shade is placed around your face. Plus, it’s a low maintenance color so it’s perfect for anyone who is a little color shy or not able to get to the salon very often.”

Back in the ’90s, however, highlights were far from subtle. We’re talking Jennifer Aniston chunky highlights which are literally begging to be noticed.

In the era of the balayage, Kim Kardashian has decided to go back to hair roots (pun intended) and rock a ’90s inspired highlight hairstyle for her new KKW Beauty Mattes campaign.

Her hairstylist, Andrew Fitzsimons, shared a picture on Instagram, which he captioned: “Obsessed with these beige-brunette chunky 90’s-ass highlights I created on @KimKardashianfor the latest @KKWbeauty campaign ”

Fitzsimons revealed more about his inspiration to Allure, explaining: “The colour was inspired by ’90s supermodels, so we referenced photos that featured hair with very beautiful, very ’90s chunky, sandy, blonde highlights against contrasting brown lowlights.”

He added: “The base tone is a beautiful neutral brown with cool beige highlights.”
